Uncharted Reveal Norway

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception continues to do big business for Sony and developer Naughty Dog - as the series has now become a flagship for the PlayStation brand and one of the most recognizable franchises in the gaming industry. Last month saw a lower-profile, yet still popular, release of Uncharted: Golden Abyss on the PlayStation Vita - with fan-favorite handheld developer Sony Bend at the helm.

Aside from one last piece of Uncharted 3 DLC en route, Nathan Drake-related news has been pretty slim. That is until today, when a new "uutforsket" image along with a new teaser site popped up - hinting at a reveal on March 22nd. How do we know it's an Uncharted reveal? The Norwegian word "uutforsket," translated into english, means "uncharted."

The image in question turned up on PlayStation Norway's official Facebook page and features Norwegian explorer Fridtjof Nansen - known for traveling around Greenland as well as an expedition to the North Pole in the late 1800s.

You can check out the image of Nansen below:

As you can see, in the photo Nansen's face is obscured by the aforementioned, "uutforsket" and it didn't take long for curious Facebookers to discover that the tease wasn't just hinting at an Uncharted connection - the word was also the basis for a Norwegian URL. Heading over to http://uutforsket.no leaves fans with a 22.03.2012 time stamp - indicating, for us North American gamers, that some kind of reveal will occur on March 22nd 2012 (i.e. tomorrow, from the time of this writing). As VG247 points out - PlayStation Denmark provided a similar tease leading up to the unveiling of Uncharted 3.

What exactly will be revealed is still anyone's guess, as an actual Uncharted 4 unveiling would probably be premature at this point - since it would inevitably distract from Naughty Dog's new IP, The Last of Us, which has been soaking up a lot of the developer's PR spotlight. A new PS Vita title from Sony Bend is even less likely. As a result, could the reveal have something to do with the final piece of Uncharted 3 DLC or possibly a smaller, stand-alone, digital adventure (similar to the inFAMOUS: Festival of Blood game)?

In addition, why PlayStation Norway? Does Fridtjof Nansen's time spent in Greenland or his expedition to the North Pole have any bearing on what will be revealed? An expedition to the North Pole could serve as a pretty intriguing backdrop for Drake and company.

We'll keep an eye on the uutforsket.no site and update you as soon as the reveal arrives.
