News recently surfaced claiming Tom Cruise would be working with Elon Musk's SpaceX company and NASA to film an action movie in outer space. Today, Jim Bridenstine, the Administrator of NASA, confirmed that the project was indeed happening.

According to Bridenstine's tweet, the cinematic venture will take place on board the International Space Station, which gives us an official setting for the film — aside from space itself, of course. The film doesn't have many other details attached to it at this time. It doesn't even have a production studio behind it.

NASA wants to use the film as a way to "inspire a new generation of engineers and scientists," which seems like a likely outcome considering what the film plans to be. No one has ever filmed a movie in space before, let alone one of action, and when it comes to this area, Tom Cruise is known for his dedication to the craft.

The man won't hesitate to put himself in danger to make action shots feel as real as possible to viewers. In fact, he will insist on it, and this has turned the Mission Impossible series into the gem that it is today. Whatever this movie ends up as will undoubtedly be something to behold whenever it finally releases.
