Naruto Uzumaki is the protagonist of Masashi Kishimoto's Naruto series and one of the strongest ninjas to ever live in the world. Although Naruto's journey began as a boy with lofty ambitions and little to show for it, over the years, he matured quite a lot and became the strongest ninja to ever live in Naruto.

Despite that, however, Naruto Uzumaki isn't devoid of any weaknesses. In fact, he has several weaknesses which limit him on the field of battle and some of them have, with time, only grown to influence him more.

7 Too Soft At Times

Often, Naruto Uzumaki is seen as being too soft. While sometimes it allows him to connect with the villains and bring them on the right path once again, at other times, it can prove to be quite detrimental to not only himself but also the rest of the shinobi world.

Naruto has, on several occasions, forgiven people who could easily have made things much worse for the various civilians. Even Sasuke Uchiha, Naruto's best friend, believes that he's too soft at times and that this hinders him quite a lot in battle.

6 Naive

Naruto Uzumaki is a very naive person and also one who holds idealistic views on the world. This has been evident from the very beginning of the story. Naruto, while very kind at heart and true to himself, has questionable beliefs about the world, and his idea to forgive everyone for the wrongs they did, and expecting others to not seek revenge is quite the ideal thinking.

Even years after he becomes the Hokage in Naruto, the ninja villages don't trust each other completely and the world isn't much better than it was before which just goes to show that, while Naruto brought peace, it's merely temporary, like always.

5 No Tactics

On the field of battle, Naruto is quite rash and doesn't think twice before charging head-in. This has been one of his traits from the very beginning of the story and over the years, it became even more prominent. Most of Naruto's strategies in battle revolve around him going all out and trying his best to beat the opponent by using the many variants of the Rasengan that he has up his sleeve.

Sometimes, however, tactics ensure safety even against stronger opponents. When Naruto fought Jigen, he could very well have gotten himself killed by mocking him even when he lost. Kurama advised him to bide his time for now and had he not done so, Naruto could well have been in trouble.

4 Lack Of Ninjutsu Diversity

It is no surprise that Naruto isn't the most skilled person when it comes to the ninjutsu department. Most of his fights see him make use of just two jutsu and those are the Shadow Clone Jutsu and the Rasengan. At other times, he makes use of the Rasenshuriken, but that's as far as his ninjutsu arsenal usually goes.

While Naruto does know many other jutsu as an adult, he never utilizes them in battle. This lack of diversity is certainly a big weakness of his. Those who have studied the way he fights can take advantage of this weakness of his quite easily.

3 No Skills In Genjutsu

Naruto might have little diversity in the ninjutsu department but his skills at genjutsu are non-existent. Although he's a fantastic shinobi who is rightfully known to be the strongest of all time, he can't perform even the simplest of genjutsu. As demonstrated by Sasuke Uchiha on so many occasions, genjutsu is key in several battles, but Naruto's overreliance on ninjutsu and taijutsu makes him very predictable.

Sakura Haruno, another member of Team 7, is also skilled in genjutsu meaning Naruto Uzumaki is the only member of his team who can't utilize this basic skill despite being a Kage.

2 Knowledge Of Jutsu

Naruto isn't the brightest of people when it comes to his knowledge of various jutsu. As seen in his fight against the likes of Kaguya Otsutsuki and even Jigen, Naruto can't discern the tricks and skills that his enemies use against him. Thanks to Sasuke Uchiha, Naruto finds out about them anyway.

On his own, however, Naruto is quite bad at telling what skill his enemies possess, or what jutsu they use and how to counter them. Hiruzen Sarutobi, the Third Hokage, was an expert at figuring out the nature of various jutsu and this let him counter them effectively.

1 Too Forgiving

Naruto Uzumaki is too forgiving and this ends up being his downfall at times. When Naruto fought Obito Uchiha, he spared his life and this allowed Madara Uchiha an opportunity to become the perfect Ten-Tails Jinchuriki. Eventually, this led to Kaguya Otsutsuki being resurrected and putting the world in quite a lot of danger.

When he fought Delta, he spared her life as well and thought he'd question her about the motives of the Kara, only for Delta to self-detonate seconds later. On another day, Naruto's kids could very well have died due to this mistake.
