The world of Naruto has seen the introduction of many powerful abilities over the years – with some of them simply adding more hype to the story and others leaving quite a massive mark on the history of ninja. Over the years, Masashi Kishimoto introduced quite a few mighty powers in the series and one of them was certainly the Susano'o of the Uchiha clan.
Introduced first towards the end of Sasuke Uchiha's fight against his brother, Itachi, the Susano'o went on to become a power of great importance. Granting those of the Uchiha tremendous power in combat and giving the fans yet another great look at their staggering visual prowess, the Susano'o is one of the mightiest powers in the Naruto world yet not many wield this incredible ability.
What Is the Susano'o?
The Susano'o is an incredible ability that only those who have awakened the Mangekyo Sharingan in both their eyes can utilize in battle. This power is, thus, exclusive to the members of the Uchiha clan and those who have somehow received the Mangekyo Sharingan of an Uchiha. After awakening the Mangekyo Sharingan, the Susano'o can be tapped into as an ultimate power of this eye.
With it, the user can summon a powerful chakra that engulfs their body and creates a massive humanoid around their body. This humanoid grows stronger the more power the user exerts and gains a giant appearance.
Being a humanoid that surrounds the user, the Susano'o does the fighting on behalf of the user, making it a tremendously powerful ability. Upon its debut, fans saw it used to counter a lightning strike that traveled in 1/10th of a second, which just goes to show that it is a phenomenal ability. The Susano'o is known to be the ultimate form of defense and according to Sasuke, it is even stronger than the Guard of Sand that Gaara possesses.
While it is one of the strongest guards to exist in the Naruto world, it is much more than just that. Mostly, the Susano'o is armed in some way or form. Sasuke Uchiha's Susano'o had access to a bow that he used to shoot arrows made of chakra from great distances. Meanwhile, Madara's Susano'o was a tengu with katanas at its disposal. Either way, the Susanoo is a mighty powerful ability that can even alter the terrain in certain situations.
How Strong Is the Susanoo?
Being the strongest ability granted by the Mangekyo Sharingan, the Susanoo is certainly very mighty. By manifesting the humanoid avatar of chakra around them, the user can get it to fight on their behalf. The Susanoo offers a great advantage as not only is it incredible in size and carries powerful weaponry for attacking, but it also has adept defense, meaning most users of this ability are free from any threats.
The power of the Susanoo depends on how much the user has mastered their Mangekyo Sharingan. The likes of Itachi Uchiha could summon the armored version of the technique, however, he ended up dying long before reaching his prime.
Meanwhile, Madara Uchiha's Susanoo was so mighty that it towered over the hills with rather ease. Due to how strong Madara Uchiha was, his Susanoo could even slice through mountain ranges with ease, which just goes to show how special this technique really is. Without a doubt, the Susanoo grants the user unimaginable powers, however, the price to pay for it is massive. The Susanoo doesn't come without its negatives and certainly, the biggest of them all is the sharp stabbing pain felt all over the user's body. At the same time, continuous usage of this power can blind the person as it is a Mangekyo Sharingan ability after all.

The Susanoo can be advanced to the Fullbody state by gaining the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan, which only two people so far in the Naruto world have awakened. Out of all the forms of this power, the Fullbody Susanoo is the ability at its very strongest. Despite the strain on the body still being tremendous, the results that it delivers are worthy of more plaudits if anything. With the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan, this technique doesn't place nearly as much stress on the body of the user and grants even further strength.
Although the Susanoo is certainly not invincible, it is quite powerful and has been shown to destroy valleys and mountain ranges in the past. The Susanoo is even capable of fighting Tailed Beasts which just goes to show how incredible this power truly is. Even after acquiring the godly Six Paths powers, fans could still see Sasuke rely on this ability which just means that the importance of this jutsu remains paramount, even years after acquiring even better dojutsu, such the Rinnegan. The Susanoo is certainly scary and will continue to be one of the most fearsome abilities in the Naruto world.
