The Mangekyo Sharingan is the evolved form of the Sharingan and one of the strongest known Kekkei Genkai in the entire Naruto series. First known to be wielded among the Uchiha by none other than Madara Uchiha and his brother, Izuna Uchiha, the Mangekyo Sharingan awakens when an Uchiha experiences severe trauma caused by the loss of a loved one.

Over the years, several users of this power have appeared in the story of Naruto and demonstrated the fearsome abilities that this eye offers.

This eye is special in many ways and one of the most incredible aspects of this power is that it offers various abilities to the wielders. Fans have seen quite a lot of Mangekyo Sharingan abilities in Naruto over the years. While this list already goes over the very best Mangekyo Sharingan abilities, there are others considered to be rather low-key, that are also among the very best. These techniques deserve a mention of their own and, as a result, they have now been included in this list.

25 Genjutsu

The Power To Cast A Heightened Illusion

While a very basic ability, the Mangekyo Sharingan also offers the ability to cast Genjutsu. Of course, given that the Mangekyo Sharingan is stronger than the regular Sharingan, the Genjutsu that one can cast using the Mangekyo Sharingan is much stronger than the regular one.

Fans have seen many powerful Mangekyo Sharingan wielders utilize the power of Genjutsu, and it is clear to see that they can use the skill on a much higher level. Sasuke has utilized this technique on many occasions, such as when he fought against Danzo, and of course, later down the line, when he fought against Kabuto as well. By the time of the conclusion of the Fourth Great Ninja War, Sasuke could even control the Tailed Beasts with his visual prowess. Undoubtedly, the regular Genjutsu the Mangekyo Sharingan is an underrated aspect of this power that deserves more attention, and rightly so.

24 Object Manipulation Technique

An Ability Used By Shin Uchiha

The Object Manipulation Technique was used by Shin Uchiha, who appeared after the story of Naruto wrapped up. Shin Uchiha was created by none other than Orochimaru and he made his appearance in the one-shot manga, Naruto Gaiden. Shin was a powerful user of the Sharingan and he had somehow managed to evolve this eye to attain the Mangekyo.

As with the vast majority of these eyes, Shin also had unique abilities up his sleeve. He could use the Object Manipulation Technique which allowed him to place a mark on any object that he could and then freely manipulate them telekinetically for as long as he wanted. He was seen leaving this mark on Sasuke's sword and then stab Naruto with it. Later on, in the fight against Sakura, he was able to injure her severely using this object manipulation technique.

23 Hinokagutsuchi

The Power to Manipulate the Kagutsuchi

Hinokagutsuchi is an ability that only appeared in the Naruto anime. Fans got to witness this power during the fight between the two brothers, Indra and Asura Otsutsuki. This ability was used by none other than Indra Otsutsuki through his Mangekyou Sharingan. As the name suggests, it allows him to manipulate the power of Kagutsuchi that many fans are already aware of.

It is very similar in application to Sasuke Uchiha's Amaterasu. In fact, how exactly it differs isn't known, however, it can be assumed that this technique allows him to manipulate the shape and size of the flames of Amaterasu freely, making it a better version of the said technique. That said, it didn't hold up well in combat against his brother, Asura Otsutsuki, and was put out rather quickly.

22 Amaterasu

Inextinguishable Black Flames

The Amaterasu is one of the first few powers of the Mangekyo Sharingan that the fans witnessed in the Naruto series. It was first used by Itachi Uchiha and this ability allowed him to create inextinguishable black flames to attack his enemies with.

The flames of Amaterasu are said to be so powerful that they burn as hot as the sun itself. What's more, these flames can only be extinguished once the target is completely incinerated, which just goes to show its power. Sasuke Uchiha is a user of this power as well.

21 Blaze Release: Honoikazuchi

Uses the Black Flames of Amaterasu

Used by Sasuke Uchiha, Blaze Release: Honoikazuchi is anime-only Mangekyo Sharingan ability that he used in the fight against Naruto Uzumaki. By surrounding himself in the black flames of Amaterasu, Sasuke created massive spikes that skewer all those around him.

He can further make this technique stronger by pulling his enemies towards him using the Rinnegan's Bansho Ten'in. Although Naruto survived its usage, this technique still remains to be very overpowered.

20 Yasaka Magatama

Creates Giant Beads of Chakra

Known to be one of the strongest abilities of the Mangekyo Sharingan, Yasaka Magatama can only be used by those who have access to the Susanoo. This ability allows the user to create giant beads of chakra and use them to attack their opponents from a distance.

According to Itachi Uchiha, this ability is one of the very best that the Susano'o offers from a distance. Its powers are great enough to cause colossal damage and, what's more, it could even destroy a Chibaku Tensei when combined with Naruto's Rasenshuriken and Killer Bee's Tailed Beast Ball.

19 Blaze Release: Kagutsuchi

The Power to Control the Black Flames of Amaterasu

Blaze Release: Kagutsuchi is a powerful Mangekyo Sharingan ability that is unique to Sasuke Uchiha's Mangekyou Sharingan. Just like Itachi, Sasuke had the power of the Amaterasu in one eye. Interestingly, his other eye offered a completely different power called Kagutsuchi.

This ability allows Sasuke to manipulate the black flames of the Amaterasu according to his will. Not only can he apply high-level shape transformation to it but also incorporate it into many other jutsu of his, such as the Chidori.

18 Susanoo

The Ultimate Power Of the Mangenkyo

The Susanoo is one of the greatest powers of the Mangekyo Sharingan, if not the greatest. This ability is only accessible to those who have awakened the Mangekyo Sharingan in both eyes.

First seen through Itachi Uchiha, the Susano'o forms a giant humanoid of chakra around the user the power of which is immense. Not only does it function as the greatest form of defense but it also has enough offensive power to cleave mountain ranges apart with a single slash of the sword.

17 Nine Tails Manipulation

The Power To Control The Strongest Beast

One of the most incredible aspects of the power of the Mangekyo Sharingan is its ability to control the Nine Tails. It appears that this power of the Mangekyo Sharingan is granted to nearly every person who awakens it.

Any user of the Mangekyo Sharingan can control the Nine Tails, or, perhaps even the other Tailed Beasts. It appears that through their superior visual prowess, they can control the beast using Genjutsu powers, and even make it their very own summon, by making a contract. This makes Kurama one of the strongest summons in Naruto, specifically to be used by the Uchiha, and those who hold the Mangekyo Sharingan power. Throughout history, fans have seen several Uchiha utilize this power. Madara was the first one who pulled this off. Obito Uchiha also managed to achieve this incredible feat. Itachi could have done it if he wanted to, and Fugaku clearly mentioned in the anime that his eye was strong enough to pull this incredible feat off.

16 Full Body Susanoo

The Trump Card of the Mangekyo Sharingan

The Susanoo is the trump card of the Mangekyo Sharingan. However, not every Susanoo is the same. When first manifested, is merely a skeletal structure and it gradually grows stronger. When one gains great control over the Mangekyo Sharingan, possibly even awakening the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan, they gain the power to use the Full Body Susanoo as well.

The Full Body Susanoo towers several meters over an average human. The power of it is so majestic that it can easily slice through mountain ranges and destroy villages and towns within a matter of seconds. This power is truly the trump card of the Sharingan and deserves a mention of its own.

15 Kagutsuchi Sword

A Sword Manifested by Sasuke

Kagutsuchi sword is an excellent weapon that Sasuke Uchiha has manifested on several occasions in the story. Sasuke is an incredible user of the black flames of the Amaterasu, perhaps, even the best user. He can freely manipulate their shape with the Kagutsuchi technique. As evident from the name, Kagutsuchi Sword sees Sasuke make a sword made out of the black flames of Amaterasu.

These flames are inextinguishable and burn hotter than the sun itself. As such, Kagutsuchi Sword is an extremely impressive weapon. To make this technique even more impressive, Sasuke uses it with his Susanoo and creates a massive sword, great enough to engulf entire towns and villages in flames with a single strike, making it one of the strongest Mangekyou Sharingan abilities.

14 Susanoo Great Fireball

A Deadly Fireball

The Great Fireball Jutsu is yet another technique of the Uchiha that can be utilized on a much grander scale using the Susanoo. As fans know, the Susanoo is the ultimate power of the Mangekyo Sharingan and, through it, the user can utilize several amplified techniques. The Great Fireball is one such technique.

Sasuke has been seen using this ability through his Susanoo. In fact, every single Uchiha who has the Mangekyo Sharingan and the ability to manifest a Susanoo should be able to use this technique as well. It might not be the strongest of jutsu, however, it is still very impressive.

13 Susanoo Chidori

A Stronger Variant of The Chidori

Susanoo Chidori is quite a powerful ability and it is one that only Sasuke has utilized in the story. As fans know, Sasuke considers the Chidori to be his signature jutsu, and it is no surprise for the fans to know that he incorporated it into his Susanoo as well. As the name suggests, this technique sees Sasuke manifesting a Full Body Susanoo and then channeling a powerful Chidori through it.

Given that the Susanoo towers over hills, a Chidori of this magnitude can rip holes through some giant structures. This power, when used against an individual, is highly likely to obliterate them entirely. It is absolutely monstrous and the vast majority of the ninja world cannot stand up to this Mangekyo Sharingan ability.

12 Kamui Shuriken

Used by Kakashi

One of the strongest Mangekyo Sharingan abilities introduced in the series so far, Kamui Shuriken was used by Kakashi Hatake after he received Obito's Six Paths charka and the Mangekyo Sharingan.

This ability allowed his Susano'o to summon giant shuriken which warped anything they sliced to the Kamui dimension. It was used against Kaguya Otsutsuki and proved to be strong enough to tear the limbs of her Ten-Tails body.

11 Kakashi's Kamui

Kakashi's Strongest Mangekyo Ability

Despite not being an Uchiha, Kakashi Hatake had a Sharingan, thanks to Obito Uchiha, who gifted it to him in the Third Great Ninja War. In time, he awakened the Mangekyo Sharingan and his strongest ability was Kamui. Using this power, he could warp anything from a distance and send it to the Kamui dimension.

When used against Deidara, it was powerful enough to rip his arms off. Later, Kakashi's control over this power improved massively and he became powerful enough to transport something as massive as the Gedo Statue's head.

10 Chidori Kagutsuchi

Combines the Black Flames with The Six Paths Enhanced Chidori

Chidori Kagutsuchi is yet another incredible ability that Sasuke made use of in his fight against Naruto Uzumaki. By combining the power of the black flames of Kagutsuchi with his Six Paths chakra-enhanced Chidori, Sasuke was able to create the ultimate jutsu.

Using his Sharingan, he could see through his opponents' most intricate movements and deliver a lethal blow to his enemies. It goes without saying that this technique was extremely overpowered as it managed to blow Naruto's arm off.

9 Tengai Shinsei

Ability Used by Madara

Tengai Shinsei is an incredibly powerful technique that was used by Madara Uchiha during the 4th Great Ninja War. This technique was used through his Susanoo that he manifested while fighting the Shinobi Alliance. By making some hand seals, Madara then proceeded to use the power of his Rinnegan to summon two giant meteorites from space.

While this power technically employs the usage of the Rinnegan primarily, it also needs the power of Susanoo to work, making it a Mangekyo Sharingan ability as well.

8 Obito's Kamui

Ability to Wrap Himself or Others to The Kamui Dimension

Obito's Mangekyo Sharingan gave him the power to use the short-ranged version of Kamui. Using this power, Obito could transport any parts of his body to the Kamui dimension almost instantaneously to make it look as if he couldn't be touched.

His Kamui was also powerful enough to warp anyone he touched into the Kamui dimension within a matter of seconds, making it incredibly dangerous. According to Minato, his ability was superior to the Flying Raijin technique.

7 Izanagi

Turns Illusions into Reality

Izanagi isn't a jutsu that is specific to the Mangekyo Sharingan, however, it can also be used through the this eye. This jutsu allows the user to turn illusions into reality and alter it whichever way they want.

Simply put, Izanagi is a genjutsu that is applied to reality itself. This makes the user almost a godlike figure in combat and for as long as the Izanagi is active, they're practically unbeatable in combat. Obito Uchiha's usage of this jutsu against Konan showed the fans how incredible it truly is.

6 Izanami

A Counter to Izanagi

To counter Izanagi, the Jutsu called Izanami was created. Just as Izanagi alters destiny, Izanami is a Jutsu that decides it. Izanami is quite a powerful genjutsu that requires certain stipulations before being cast. A loop needs to be created for this jutsu to work, as seen during Itachi Uchiha's fight against Kabuto Yakushi.

Once the loop is set, Izanami can be activated, and immediately after, the target is eternally caught in a loop of events in their mind. There is no way to break Izanami other than accepting one's true self and accepting their fate, which is what makes this jutsu one of the most dangerous to ever exist. Just like Izanagi, the Izanami isn't specifically a Mangekyo Sharingan ability but can be used through the eye.
