Naruto and Sasuke have always been two of the most powerful characters in Masashi Kishimoto's Naruto story. Although the beginning of their journeys was humble, they ended up becoming some of the strongest by the end, thanks to their incredible intellect and the effort that they put in. Kishimoto always made sure that both Naruto and Sasuke progressed at the same time. In the past, he has described them as yin and yang, stating that if one gets stronger, so does the other one.

Towards the end of Naruto, the two managed to reach an unprecedented level of power, thanks to Hagoromo Otsutsuki, the Sage of Six Paths. Shortly before the fight against Six Paths Madara and Kaguya, the Sage ended up granting each of them half of his powers that pushed them to the next level. Thus, Six Paths Naruto and Sasuke were born, and, together, they combined to end the Fourth Great Ninja War and save the world.

The Six Paths Powers

Naruto in Naruto

The Six Paths powers are special abilities in the Naruto world that pertain to the chakra of Hagoromo Otsutsuki in one way or another, and can be attained in a number of ways. The very first reveal of this power came with Nagato Uzumaki, who was a wielder of the Rinnegan. Being a power that belonged to the Sage of Six Paths, the Rinnegan is considered to be a part of the Six Paths Powers. The Rinnegan also offers its user the ability to use the Six Paths Powers which can be divided into the Animal Path, Preta Path, Deva Path, Asura Path, Human Path, and Naraka Path, each with a distinct and godly ability.

On top of these powers, a seventh ability, called the Outer Path is also available to all users of this eye. The Outer Path allows people to rule over life and death itself, making it a godly ability. The Rinnegan is certainly not the only way to attain Six Paths Powers. These abilities can also be attained by becoming the Jinchuriki of the Ten-Tails, as seen with Obito and Madara Uchiha. By using the Six Paths Coffin Seal, one can attain tremendous power and reach the godly levels of Hagoromo Otsutsuki. Finally, these powers can also be granted to one directly by the Sage of Six Paths, as was the case with Naruto and Sasuke Uchiha.

Six Paths Naruto

Naruto Uzumaki received Six Paths Powers from Hagoromo when he suffered a near-death encounter in the Fourth Great Ninja War. After having Kurama ripped from his body, Naruto was confronted by the Sage, and answered a few of his questions. It was revealed that Naruto was the reincarnation of the Sage's younger son, Ashura Otsutsuki. In the past, he entrusted Ashura with all of his powers, however, this time, he chose to split it equally between Naruto and Sasuke. Naruto ended up receiving the yang half of the Sage's Six Paths Powers. As such, his vitality and his physical prowess were boosted to a sky-high level.

The Six Paths yang power can give life to others and heal as well, which makes it an incredibly useful technique. Naruto also ended up receiving the Six Paths Senjutsu from the Sage of Six Paths and when combined with his Sage Mode, it gave rise to one of his strongest forms called the Six Paths Sage Mode. In this form, Naruto became strong enough to fight the likes of Madara Uchiha and even Kaguya Otsutsuki. Furthermore, Six Paths Senjutsu allowed him to create the Truth-Seeking Balls and made him incredibly versatile in combat. His sensory powers were heightened to the next level and his strength rose to a level great enough to overpower even the strongest of enemies.

Six Paths Sasuke

Just like Naruto, Sasuke also ended up receiving Six Paths powers from Hagoromo Otsutsuki after a near-death encounter. Unlike Naruto, he ended up receiving the Six Paths Yin power, marked by the crescent moon on his left hand. The Six Paths powers led to him awakening the Rinnegan in his left eye. Unlike the regular Rinnegan, Sasuke's eye had six tomoe inside it which signified the level of strength that his eye possessed and granted him extra abilities, such as Amenotejikara. This eye made him strong enough to contest with the likes of Madara Uchiha when he could barely hold his own against him moments earlier.

Furthermore, Sasuke could also infuse his ninjutsu with Six Paths chakra and deal greater damage to his enemies in the War. With the Rinnegan, Sasuke's power rose to the next level and he was able to fight against the likes of Kaguya Otsutsuki and Six Paths Naruto on an equal footing. After the war, he went on to master these powers to an even greater degree and became a ninja worthy of being called Naruto's true equal.
