With Gamescom 2010 well underway, I'm sure many of you were wondering if Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 would be making an appearance. Well, you're in luck because a new trailer has just been released and it's so chock full of villains and jutsu, that after watching you'll be shouting, "Believe It!"Namco Bandai really showcases just how hard they have worked on this title by showing off the amazing use of jutsu in the game. For those that aren't familiar with the term Jutsu, in Naruto terminology, it means a technique. Jutsu are categorized into three areas: Ninjutsu (Ninja Techniques), Taijutsu (Hand-to-Hand Techniques), and Genjutsu (Illusionary Techniques).
The trailer starts off by showing a scene from the much-anticipated fight between Sasuke and his brother, Itachi. If you have been following Naruto Shippuden, the anime, you know that this final fight between brothers has been foreshadowed and building since the original Naruto anime.
Next up, Team Taka is showcased starting off with the leader, Sasuke. He makes good use of his mastery of Fire Style and Lightning Style Jutsu, his ferocious Taijutsu skills, and his newly-acquired Mangekyou Sharingan techniques. One of his special eye techniques is Amaterasu: black flames that continue to burn until the target has been disintegrated. Suigetsu, who is the Water Style ninja of the group, can be seen using Zabuza's head cleaver sword to slice up any enemies that stand in his way. Also unique to Suigetsu is his ability to partially turn his body into water, which he uses to trick and trap his opponents into oblivion. Jugo is the brute strength of the group and he uses his Cursed Seal to transform and enhance parts of his body to devastate his foes. Lastly, Karin can be seen by some as the "Sakura" of Team Taka. As shown in the trailer, she's both fearsome and cunning, combining the use of Taijutsu with Ninja weapons, like explosives tags.
The villainous terrorist group, Akatsuki is featured next, starting off with Itachi, Sasuke's brother and former Leaf Village ninja. If the trailer is any indication, there is no one else quite like Itachi, who uses his terrifying life-like Genjutsu, which he combines with his unstoppable Taijutsu and Fire Style jutsu. His partner, Kisame, uses his "Chakra-Shaving" sword to both deplete your chakra reserves and also catch you off-guard for his tidal wave-sized Water Style jutsu. Sasori has brought all 100 of his puppets to overwhelm you with his numbers, and let's not forget that his worse puppet is himself! Deidara still packs a punch with his explosive clay bombs, and from the looks of him in the trailer, he's bringing his famous C-3 bomb, which is powerful enough to take out an entire city. Prepare to be not only sliced up by Hidan's triple-bladed scythe, but be apart of a ritual sacrifice where any damage he causes to himself is sent straight back to you. Kakuzu and his multiple hearts will be bringing the wrath of all five elements upon you. Konan will show you that paper is a deadly and destructive weapon that should not be taken lightly. Last, but certainly not least out of the Akatsuki members featured in this trailer, is Pain, who will use all six of his bodies to bring pain to not only you, but the entire world.
One of things the trailer stresses is the scale of the boss battles in the game. The first boss battle you will encounter will be Naruto & Sakura versus their sensei, Kakashi. Kakashi is seen using his Sharingan, Water Dragon jutsu, and Fire Ball jutsu, so it's safe to say that he is not going to be holding back. Another intense fight involves Sakura & Chiyo versus Sasori and his 100 puppets. 2 vs 100? I like those odds! If aerial battles are your thing, then I'm sure you'll be excited to see that Gaara will be chasing and fighting Deidara through the skies of the Hidden Sand Village. Of course, lets not forget one of the most epic boss fights in the game, with Jiraiya versus Pain.
But enough of me describing this awesome trailer. Check it out yourself below:
After watching this trailer, I screamed like a little girl inside, not only because this game is close to being released, but because of how polished this game looks. Namco Bandai has really outdone themselves with the newest entry in the long-running Naruto series.
With over 40 playable characters, an intense Online mode, graphics that are indistinguishable from the anime, and more, Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 is looking to be a top contender in the fighting-game genre when it's released this upcoming October for both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
