With time, however, stronger entities kept appearing and the likes of alien parasites, known as the Otsutsuki, started showing up as well. With their emergence, new branches of power were introduced in the Naruto world and that is where Shinjutsu comes in. While both are types of Jutsu, there is a big difference between ninjutsu and Shinjutsu in the Naruto world and the power of the latter is much superior.

What Is Ninjutsu?

Ninjutsu is, likely, the most common form of jutsu seen in the world of Naruto. It is one of the three main types of jutsu that have been introduced to the fans in the Naruto series. Simply put, anything that doesn't classify as genjutsu or taijutsu is ninjutsu. To perform ninjutsu, one must possess chakra and the ability to knead it. Once a person learns how to manipulate chakra, this power within their body can be utilized in a plethora of ways. The chakra is usually manipulated by applying nature transformation to it, giving rise to the elemental techniques that fans are very well aware of.

Powers such as Fire Release, Water Release, Wind Release, Earth Release, and Lightning Release are all types of ninjutsu that one gets access to after applying nature transformation to their chakra. Certainly, ninjutsu are not limited to nature transformations. Techniques such as the Rasengan, which is simply a ball of chakra in the hands of the user is also ninjutsu. Other powerful techniques, such as the Summoning Jutsu, and several forbidden techniques also fall under this category. It is easily the most nebulous category of Jutsu in Naruto and also one of the most dangerous. Some dangerous techniques, such as the Edo Tensei, also belong to this category. As evident, ninjutsu is a very broad sphere, and anything that doesn't classify as hand-to-hand combat or an illusionary jutsu is, simply put, ninjutsu in the world of Naruto.

What Is Shinjutsu?

Shinjutsu, which was recently introduced in the Naruto franchise, is a completely different ball game altogether. This jutsu is not accessible to just anyone. The word Shinjutsu literally means 'Godly Technique' and, as such, only a God of the world can wield this ability. The very first person to possess the ability to manipulate shinjutsu was none other than Shibai. Even Shibai didn't have this power right from the get-go. He acquired this ability after he consumed countless chakra fruits and destroyed several planets. In the meanwhile, he kept using the Karma to resurrect himself over and over again and each time he did it, he got stronger.

Eventually, there came a point where Shibai gained access to godhood. He was not a mortal any longer and when this happened, he gained access to Shinjutsu. His Shinjutsu is known to have been incredibly powerful. Just with a swipe of his hand, he could produce tornadoes and destroy any land. With a roar, he could produce a lightning storm. Evidently, the scale on which his techniques were performed was completely different from ninjutsu and simply not comparable. He could destroy a planet without even trying.

However, the most dangerous thing about Shinjutsu is that it comes in different forms, just like ninjutsu. For instance, Shibai didn't just possess the power to create tornadoes and lightning storms. He also possessed a Shinjutsu ability that allowed him to reflect any damage thrown his way automatically. Even killing intent aimed his way would be reflected off of him and back to the enemy, killing them in the process. Furthermore, if all this was not enough, he also possessed the power of Omnipotence. Omnipotence is yet another godly ability that allowed him to bring his deepest desires to fruition. Essentially, there is nothing that Omnipotence cannot do. He could rewrite history, change reality itself, and even gain infinite power. As long as he possessed Omnipotence, he could do anything.

While Shinjutsu is very rare, there are some users of this ability in the world of Naruto. These are Boruto Uzumaki, who possesses the Karma, which classifies as Shinjutsu, and Kawaki, who has the same power. On top of this, Kawaki also has access to Sukunahikona and Daikokuten, and both of these techniques classify as Shinjutsu. Code has similar powers to the Claw Marks which are known to be Shinjutsu as well.

There are also two artificially created humans, named Daemon and Ada, both of which possess this power as well. Dasmon harbors Shibai's reflection ability and is known to be exceptionally powerful using it, while Ads possesses the Senrigan and Omnipotence that Shibai once wielded. They got access to these abilities thanks to Amado, who infused them with the DNA of Shibai, once he left his mortal body behind and ascended to godhood. This branch of Jutsu is clearly going to play a significant role in the future of Naruto and fans couldn't be more excited to see what it could bring to the table.
