Masashi Kishimoto's world of Naruto is quite rich when it comes to shinobi with various powers. There are those who specialize in ninjutsu, genjutsu, and taijutsu, and then there are the diverse Kekkei Genkai that exist in this world.
Over the years, fans have seen quite a lot of abilities illustrated in the most intriguing ways by the author. However, there are some abilities that he didn't come up with and are specific to just the anime. These powers are non-canon, yet, at the same time, they are some of the best seen in Naruto, as a whole.
8 Crystal Release
Crystal release is a powerful Kekkei Genkai that was wielded by Guren. As the ability's name suggests, it allows the user to manipulate and produce crystals at will. These crystals are extremely sturdy and can be used for both offensive and defensive purposes.
One of its most incredible advantages is that it acts as a natural weakness to the famed Wood Release that Hashirama Senju had mastery in. For a Kekkei Genkai to be a perfect counter to Wood Release automatically makes it incredible.
7 Dark Release
Dark Release is an extremely overpowered Kekkei Genkai that was wielded by Hiruko. This technique allows the user to absorb any form of chakra through a diamond-shaped sign on their hands.
At the same time, the chakra that is absorbed can be manipulated and released according to the will of the user. This Kekkei Genkai is, in some ways, similar to the Karma that fans have seen in Boruto. For such an ability to be non-canon is certainly disappointing, yet it is an incredible power nonetheless.
6 Swift Release
Another Kekkei Genkai that belonged to Hiroko, Swift Release is an ability that allows the user to move at blinding speeds. When used, it appears as if the user vanishes in a blur of smoke.
The biggest strength that this Kekkei Genkai has is that it makes taijutsu ineffective against the user, as they can barely be seen and, thus, not hit. Swift Release is, sadly, non-canon but its usage is nothing short of staggering. Against faster and stronger opponents, however, this Kekkei Genkai would struggle.
5 Ranmaru's Kekkei Genkai
Ranmaru's Kekkei Genkai is an excellent ability that only existed in the TV anime. It allows him powers that are quite similar to those of the Byakugan without even being a member of the Hyuga clan or being related to the Otsutsuki.
This eye glows bright red and its powers are comparable to the Three Great Dojutsu. Just like the Byakugan, it can see across vast distances and can even see through most obstructions. It can notice the chakra system of the user, which makes it an excellent eye to possess. It is likely that due to being too similar to the Byakugan, this eye was never a part of the Naruto canon.
4 Kurama Clan's Kekkei Genkai
Kurama Clan's Kekkei Genkai could quite possibly be one of the most overpowered ones to be introduced in the Naruto series. Although it exists just in the anime, its power is simply overwhelming. Not every member of the clan possesses this jutsu, however, rarely, a member of the clan is born with it.
This Kekkei Genkai has the ability to cast powerful Genjutsu even if the user has no skill in using the art. Its influence is such that it makes the victim believe anything and everything that is happening to them, which is a terrifying ability. As such, it is possible to kill someone with this Genjutsu by making them actually experience the pain that they are envisioning in their minds.
3 Rinha Clan's Kekkei Genkai
Rinha Clan's Kekkei Genkai is the only one in the entire franchise to be exclusive to a game. It appeared in Naruto Shippuden 3D: The New Era. While this Kekkei Genkai might not be the strongest, it is very dangerous as it allows the user to copy someone's appearance and gain all their memories.
To do this, the user of the Jutsu needs to absorb the chakra of the target. Once that is accomplished, it is quite easy for them to duplicate the target and gain access to even their deepest of thoughts and desires.
2 Ryuzetsu's Kekkei Genkai
Debuting in Naruto the Movie: The Blood Prison, Ryuzetsu's Kekkei Genkai was quite a special one indeed. In terms of both appearances and certain powers, it is strikingly similar to the Rinnegan. Using this eye allows a person to perform the reincarnation ninjutsu and bring anyone back to life.
While the ability to bring someone back to life is certainly overpowered, the cost for it is great indeed. By transferring their own life force into someone else, the user's lifespan depletes, and eventually, they die once the process is complete. This is very similar to the Rinne Tensei that can be performed through the Seventh Path of the Rinnegan.
1 Seven Heavens Breathing Method
The Seven Heavens Breathing Method was invented by Shira of Sunagakure. This ability is quite similar to the Eight Inner Gates that Might Guy and Rock Lee specialize in. To perform it, Shira breathes in large amounts of oxygen and increases his lung capacity fourfold.
By doing so, his physical prowess is greatly enhanced and he becomes strong enough to overwhelm most people with his taijutsu. The strength of this jutsu is comparable to the Eight Inner Gates. Even the physical changes that they undergo are strikingly similar. Shira was able to match Lee in combat with the usage of the Seven Heavens Breathing Method.
