Naruto is a series that's full to the brim with amazing characters that are a blast to connect with in the show. The series has several amazing moments in which these characters get to shine their brightest, with the anime featuring everything from amazing battles to emotional moments. A big challenge that the series' heroes need to overcome are the various villains that have plagued the series over time.

Naruto isn't exactly a series that boasts the best female characters around, but there are times when the series absolutely knocks it out of the park when it comes to these characters. Sometimes, the female villains in the show end up being quite brilliant in their own right, and here are some of the best female antagonists that the series has been graced with in the show.

4 Tayuya

The Sound 4 was a great group that caused no end of problems for the Konoha ninja who were trying their hardest to save Sasuke. Each and every member of the group was pretty powerful in their own right, using their Cursed Seal to great effect as they absolutely wreaked havoc and beat down most of the people who had to face them in battle. With the sole exception of Choji and Neji, who managed to take out Jirobo and Kidomaru respectively, the other fighters needed help against their respective opponents.

Tayuya was one of these opponents whose genjutsu was top-tier. She caused Shikamaru no end of problems and would've overpowered his Shadow Possession jutsu had it not been for Temari's timely interception. The only reason why most people might not rank Tayuya as highly as the other fighters in the series is that she has little to no character development, and her place in the story only serves as an obstacle that the heroes need to overcome to save Sasuke.

3 Karin

Karin Naruto

It was only a matter of time before Sasuke would escape Orochimaru's grasp and try and hunt down Itachi on his own. There was no way that he would sit around and let Orochimaru take over his body after he was done reaching his true potential. After battling against Orochimaru and overpowering him with his Sharingan, Sasuke went about gathering a bunch of Orochimaru's students and test subjects to form a formidable group of his own that would be able to take down Itachi Uchiha once and for all.

One of the members that joined Sasuke's group was Karin, a person who seemed a bit too obsessed with the survivor of the Uchiha massacre for his own good. However, she more than justified her place in this squad with her brilliant tracking skills and healing abilities. She's one of the most important parts of the squad, despite her incessant obsessing over Sasuke and the constant arguments she has with Suigetsu.

2 Konan

Konan in Naruto

The Pain arc is easily one of the best parts of Naruto, commencing with the untimely death of Naruto's sensei and father figure. Jiraiya was an entertaining character who didn't waste any time establishing himself as one of the strongest shinobi in the show. With that in mind, the fact that he was defeated by the forms of Pain and sent to his death was truly shocking, establishing this character and his partner as two of the most diabolical villains in the show at that time.

While there's no denying that Konan is one of the most powerful shinobi around, she didn't really get a ton of moments to shine. Her biggest moment in the series was a fight against Obito where she put her full wealth of amazing shinobi abilities on display. Unfortunately, this wasn't enough, and she ended up being the final member of the dynamic trio that learned all their ninja abilities under Jiraiya.

1 Kaguya Otsutsuki

Kaguya Otsutsuki was the first human endowed with chakra

It was only a given that both Naruto and Sasuke would've had to move heaven and earth to defeat Madara. However, before they could summon the strength to defeat this tough foe, one of the most controversial plot twists happened in the show. It turned out that Zetsu was fighting against the interests of Madara all along, and actually wanted to bring back the very Mother of Chakra herself. As a result, Kaguya Otsutsuki was brought back into the real world after the longest time.

Kaguya is perhaps the strongest foe that the heroes have faced in the show. She was a force to be reckoned with and could use all her abilities to absolutely wreak havoc, causing no end of problems for both Naruto and Sasuke. The fact of the matter is that the entire shinobi world was doomed if Naruto and Sasuke didn't have the means to seal Kaguya before she could mold this new world in her outdated image. She might be a controversial figure in the world of Naruto, but even her biggest haters will agree that Kaguya is one of the strongest villains in the entire show and is probably the best female villain Kishimoto has introduced to his legendary creation.
