The original Mario Party game and its sequel, Mario Party 2, have jumped ship from the Nintendo 64 to the Switch Online Expansion Pack, giving subscribers to Nintendo's premium service the chance to replay the classic games. After the initial batch of Nintendo 64 games were added to the Switch Online Expansion Pack, Nintendo announced a second wave for subscribers to the highest-priced version of Switch Online to look forward to.

The second wave of Nintendo 64 games for the Switch Online Expansion Pack will consist of nine games when it's all said and done, with three having been added already so far. The first game that came to the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack as part of the second wave of N64 titles was Pilotwings 64 last month, and now Mario Party and Mario Party 2 have joined the lineup as the latest additions.

Something Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack owners may find interesting is that Nintendo has added a warning to Mario Party and Mario Party 2 that did not exist in the original versions of the games. The warning cautions that some players may hurt their hand or the control stick if they rotate it with their palm instead of their thumbs. The palm trick was used in old school Mario Party games to make certain mini-games easier to win, though it was known to wear out controllers and hurt gamers' hands back in the day. Those who have used this strategy to get ahead in Mario Party games for years are unlikely to be swayed by the warning, but some may think twice about it now.

Of course, this warning may really only apply to those who have a Nintendo 64 controller handy for their Switch. Nintendo has released a limited supply of Nintendo 64 controllers for the Switch, letting gamers get a more authentic experience when playing N64 games through the Switch Online Expansion Pack. Other Switch controllers will also work, but it may not really be the same experience without a Nintendo 64 controller.

Mario Party and Mario Party 2 aren't the only Nintendo 64-era Mario Party games hitting the Switch Online Expansion Pack. At some point down the line, Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack subscribers can expect Mario Party 3 to join the service as well. And then in 2023, Switch Online Expansion Pack subscribers can look forward to other major N64 games, like 1080 Snowboarding, Excitebike 64, GoldenEye 007 with online multiplayer support, Pokemon Stadium, and Pokemon Stadium 2.
