Grant Imahara, the roboticist and electrical engineer who co-hosted MythBusters, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on July 13th due to a brain aneurysm. In light of his passing, Kari Byron and Tory Belleci, his former co-hosts, have written their own personal tributes to their friend and co-star.

In his testimonial, Tory writes: "When he joined the team on Mythbusters, it was a perfect fit.... He was a master of robots, an encyclopedia of sci-fi trivia, and an inspiration to all.... Grant was a unique individual with a brilliant mind. He was passionate about creating and it showed in his incredible body of work. He was generous with his time, knowledge and skills and because of that he has left a huge void in this world both to his friends and family and to his fans."

With her tribute, Kari talks about the team's personal relationship with Grant: "You have been a fixture in my life for two decades. When I first met you in the m5 workshop, you showed me pictures of your robots, and we giggled about how Jamie wanted me to sharpen used screws to save money.... The three of us—you, Tory and I—we are beyond friends. We are siblings. We shared a long, wild adventure, learning from each other the whole way."

As one of the Discovery Channel's most recognizable properties, running for 14 seasons with the original hosts, MythBusters is a beloved show with a huge and passionate fan-base. The passing of Grant Imahara has come as yet another painful surprise for both fans and co-stars, occurring less than a year after the loss of former co-host Jessi Combs, who died in a high speed car crash last August.

In the wake of tragedy like this, all that one can do is remember those who have left us, and how they touched our lives. The original MythBusters was a ground-breaking show that brought science and laughter to millions of people all across the world. Grant, Jessi, and all the show's hosts and crew members inspired thousands. Some of those inspired even took the initiative to experiment themselves, both in the real world and in fictional worlds as well, taking up the 'MythBuster' name themselves, in honor of those who came before.

In her closing lines, Kari reflects on that legacy, and puts to words the deep tragedy of a life cut short: "We gave blood, sweat, and tears (and so many more bodily fluids) to a television show that for us was like making the best home movie ever, but for a generation of fans was an invitation to question and experiment with their world. I am mad that you are gone. We weren’t done yet. You should have at least dared me to eat a bug one more time. I’d eat all the bugs in the world to have you back."
