In a superhuman society, the My Hero Academia series portrays the adventures of heroes, and aspiring heroes are pitted against various villainous plots and attempts to destroy the world. In this fictional world, heroes are seen as the pillars of society, as without them, society would crumble to the various villains that want nothing more than to watch the world burn.

As with all heroes, their power comes with responsibility; however, the heroes can only sometimes perform or carry out the tasks that truly matter. In the My Hero Academia series, with so much responsibility on their shoulders, a hero's failure could have devastating effects on society as they might not be able to save the day or set a proper example.

7 Endeavor Fails As A Father In Parenting Todoroki And Toya

Endeavour and family

As the story progressed, it became clear that Endeavor's marriage was solely for the purpose of producing more formidable offspring and that he had failed as a parent. Todoroki despised him for his aggressive and erratic behavior and sought only to one day surpass him.

Todoroki and Endeavor's relationship improves over the course of the show, and Endeavor starts acting more like a father to his kids in an effort to make up for his past mistakes. However, recent developments in the sixth season of the My Hero Academia series provide viewers another look at Endeavor's failure as a parent when it's revealed that the League of Villains' fire user, Dabi, is actually his son.

6 All Might’s Failure To Kill All For One The First Time

In the past, when both were at their peak strength, All Might and All For One clashed, but All For One failed to defeat him then. This did not bode well for society as the fully powered All Might, the number one hero and Symbol of Peace, could not defeat him.

All Might being unable to defeat All For One the first time caused major plot points in the story as All For One kept coming back to destroy the heroes and left All Might permanently weakened after their major battle. This also allowed All For One to carry out multiple experiments, which led to the creation of the Nomu's and the groom of an heir: Tomura Shigaraki, who is ironically All Might's teacher's grandson.

5 Lemillion Losing His Quirk To Overhaul

Lemillion Saves Eri

It's safe to say that a hero has failed if they lose their unique ability because of something like a villain. Though Lemillion made excellent use of his quirk, he could not protect it from Overhaul's quirk-destroying bullet. My Hero Academia's fourth season included this conflict, which pitted the heroes against the Shie Hassaikai, a former yakuza group that ruled Japan's criminal underground.

Losing the quirk that allows you to safeguard the residents is a failure. While Lemillion can be excused for this since he was trying to save and protect a young girl named Eri, this does not excuse him from the responsibility he has for the safety of the rest of the population.

4 Aizawa Was Unable To Protect The Class 1A Students From A Nomu

My Hero Academia Nomus The USJ Nomu and Aizawa aka Eraser Head

Shoto Aizawa, better known as Eraser Head, could not save his students from the initial League of Villains invasion on the UA campus, despite his fame as a well-known pro hero. Even though Aizawa's combat style and quirk were rendered worthless against the bioengineered Nomu due to its great physical power rather than an actual quirk, a hero should be able to adapt to different conditions and act accordingly.

With a partially decayed elbow and a repeatedly bashed face, Aizawa only managed to hold out until All Might's arrival which prevented the killing of his students.

3 Nighteye's Death From Wounds Caused By Overhaul

Nighteye injured in battle

Miraki Sasaki, with the hero name Nighteye, was considered a pro hero and was a former partner of the number one hero, All Might. As a man of such caliber, Night Eye's near-instant defeat at the hands of the Shie Hassaki yakuza boss Overhaul does not put him in a good light. With Nighteye's quirk foresight, which allows him to foresee the future, his quick defeat came as a surprise to various fans.

Although Nighteye is mainly known for his genius intellect rather than his physical prowess, his defeat was still stunning as he didn't last as long as his student Mirio (hero name Lemillion) against Overhaul.

2 Best Jeanist’s Near-instant Defeat To All For One

Best Jeanist On The Ground

Despite being the number four hero at the time, Best Jeanist was incapable of even stalling All For One during the third season in the Hideout Raid arc of the My Hero Academia series when All For One broke out and attacked.

The evil mastermind easily disposed of Best Jeanist and his team. Although defeating All For One is a tall task, not even being able to stall for time is nothing short of unimpressive. It also shows how far apart the capabilities of All For One and the number four hero’s abilities are. As Best Jeanist was easily defeated, all hope was left to All Might to save the day, even in his weakened state.

1 Aizawa, Vlad, And The Other Camp Teachers Fail To Stop The Kidnap Of Bakugo

Bakugo kidnapped

Bakugo’s kidnap was one of the defining moments for major plot points in the series. With Bakugo’s kidnap, society’s trust in heroes and UA was at an all-time low, and that was what led to All Might’s final confrontation against All For One.

During the battle, All Might's non-muscular form was revealed to society, and the people saw the Symbol of Peace and the number one hero effectively retiring. If only the hero Eraser Head and the other camp instructors could have prevented Bakugo's kidnap, All Might would not have had to use up the last spark of One For All so soon and would have retired much later.
