My Hero Academia is one of the most popular anime in the world these days, and it's been featured as the main subject in a handful of video games. Fans have fallen in love with its cast of superpowered characters. Among them is a mysterious and powerful kid who harnesses the power of both ice and fire.

His name is Shoto Todoroki, and in both the anime and manga he's performed some of the strongest and most dazzling moves in the series. With My Hero Academia coming out with a brand new season, it's important to look at all of Todoroki's moves and see which ones rank as his best of the bunch. There's a reason he reigns as one of the show's most popular characters.

9 Phosphor

Phosphor is a move Todoroki utilizes after he learns his father's signature move called Flashfire Fist. Someone with Todoroki's intelligence is bound to find more efficient ways to do things, and through experimentation, he learned a move called Phosphor.

The technique focuses on Todoroki merging ice and fire in his body, which then culminates into a singular ability. On its own, it's nothing to write home about, but it serves as the base for the two following entries on this list, Great Glacial Aegier, and Coldflame's Pale Blade.

8 Great Glacial Aegir

Support moves aren't ever as flashy or eye-catching, but something like Great Glacial Aegir is the type of move all real superheroes need in their kit. Not only can Todoroki cover giant areas of land with ice, which is great for extinguishing fires, but it can be concentrated toward powerful sources of fire as well.

It's described as a cold fire, which is understandable considering this technique is a secondary move that Todoroki developed once he had a grasp on Phosphor, with it itself being a move developed off of his time with Flashfire Fist.

7 Coldflame's Pale Blade

Now, Coldflame's Pale Blade may sound like a weapon gamers pick up in Elden Ring or Dark Souls, but it happens to be a solid move for a superhero in training, Shoto Todoroki. It's a ranged attack that allows him to create distance between himself and his opponent.

This allows Todoroki to gather information and develop a solid strategy as it's not always clear what powers certain villains possess. Also, it's a great way for him to separate villains from targets and can buy other heroes and allies time. A move being versatile is sometimes much more important than it is being powerful. Not all jobs require a grenade, some are better suited with a scalpel in hand.

6 Hell Spider

Hell Spider is quite the name for a superpowered attack, and visually it delivers on what the name would suggest. By shooting the white-hot fire created by Flashfire Fist from his fingertips Todoroki can slice through almost anything in his path.

Fans were treated to this move when Todoroki was infiltrating the Humarise base and needed to take out the lasers that were denying his progression. It's unlikely he'll use this move all that often as it doesn't fit the type of person he portrays himself as, whether in the heat of battle or during casual training sessions.

5 Wall Of Flames

Now, Wall of Flames is essentially the fire-formed version of Todoroki's other attack called Heaven-Piercing Ice Wall. What it lacks in terms of being able to restrain targets, it makes up for in its offensive capabilities.

The move was seen as a nifty solution during Todoroki's fight with Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu during the Joint Training Battle arc with Class 1-B, but in an actual confrontation, it's hard to see a time when he'd opt for the fire version of a move he's already mastered with ice.

4 Jet Kindling

Often times in My Hero Academia, it's the main villain fights that end up showcasing incredible moves by many of the heroes in the anime. During his fight with Leviathan during his battle to take down Humarise at their base, Todoroki performed a move that was a technique built off of Flashfire Fist.

Now known as Jet Kindling, the move began with Todoroki concentrating the white-hot heat created by Flashfire Fist into his hand. Upon landing a punch on the target a massive explosion of heat would escape and shoot out of his arm. Jet Kindling would almost instantaneously cause severe burns on the enemy struck with the attack.

3 Flashfire Fist

The signature move of Todoroki's father Endeavor is called Flashfire Fist. Due to his relationship with his father, it was no surprise that Todoroki didn't learn or utilize this move for quite some time. It requires the wielder to compress their flames to a point of ultimate heat, before unleashing them.

Flashfire Fist also serves as a primary technique Todoroki used to develop secondary moves with the technique, all of which are on this list. As Todoroki's story unfolds and he begins to embrace the fire powers he was born with, the true potential of his duality of powers displays itself as something astounding to anyone that bears witness.

2 Flashfreeze Heatwave

One of the core tenants of Todoroki's character arc is his overcoming the trauma he endured as a child, one which left him with a nasty facial scar. His father, Endeavor, abused both Todoroki's mother and siblings, and the pain of it all still lingers. This caused Todoroki to shun his fire-based powers as he associated them with the man he hated.

During the Sports Festival, Izuku Midoriya convinced Todoroki to take ownership of his own potential and embrace his fire powers. This resulted in Todoroki unlocking a move called Flashfreeze Heatwave where he cools the air around him, then follows that up by violently heating up the space around him which results in a giant heat-filled explosion.

1 Heaven-Piercing Ice Wall

My Hero Academia Shoto Todoroki Best Attacks 1

Heaven-Piercing Ice Wall is hands down Todoroki's strongest and best move for a variety of reasons. With the core of his strength residing in the ice side of his dual powers, it'd make sense that his control of both the scale and direction of his ice would be phenomenal.

Fans first see him unleash this massive burst of ice at the Sports Festival, and is quick jaw-dropping in its execution. Having the ability to either trap targets inside of it or use it as a defensive wall makes Heaven-Piercing Ice Wall as versatile as it is powerful.
