Members of the Himura Family have been present in My Hero Academia, however, in many instances, fans did not even know that these characters were related to the Himura. Now, Horikoshi has explained everything to the fans in great detail and it is possible that the next few chapters of the story will tackle more such details about this unique family.

The Power Of The Himura Family

Rei Todoroki of My Hero Academia

The very first character that the fans saw stemming from the Himura Family was Rei Himura, the wife of Endeavor and the mother of Shoto Todoroki. Rei possesses the powers of ice manipulation with her Frost Quirk and, thanks to this power of hers, Endeavor sought her out. He entered into a Quirk Marriage with her with the goal of creating the perfect child that would one day be strong enough to surpass All Might. As things stood, Endeavor could never surpass All Might on his own. His Hellflame powers were not strong enough to see him achieve a similar level of strength to that of All Might. In fact, his own Quirk proved to be counterproductive as the more he burned, the weaker his body got. To balance that out, he sought the powers of ice manipulation and he would only get that through entering a Quirk Marriage with someone.

Endeavor threw a lot of abuse the way of his wife as well as his kids. Eventually, he did get his way as Shoto Todoroki was born with the power of both ice and fire manipulation. Clearly, the powers of the Himura clan were related to ice manipulation and this was evident from the fact that Endeavor chose Rei for his Quirk Marriage. This power is highly coveted in the world of My Hero Academia and it is also among the very best seen in the story. Depending on who uses this power, it can change. Some only possess the ability to reduce temperatures and freeze the water in their surroundings while others can actually produce ice from their bodies. It can be assumed that there are different versions of ice manipulation out there, and all of them belong to the Himura family.

The Past Of The Himura Family

My Hero Academia 387 went into great detail regarding the Himura Family. It was revealed to the fans that the Himura Family's blood runs very thick. In the past, this family was considered to be one of the most exalted in Japan. They even had their own village called the Himura Village and their chief managed to establish several branch families under the main family. Even land reforms couldn't bring this family down, however, when meta abilities started to rise, the Himura family's base was shaken. Not wanting to dilute its blood, family members started to intermarry within different branches and it was quite clear to see that they had a contempt for the heteromorphs and other humans too.

The Himura Family ended up shutting itself off from the rest of the world and as a result, their power shrunk over the years. There came a point when the main family tried to sell themselves off and upon hearing that, the lower branch families scattered throughout the world. Eventually, these branch family members of the Himura ended up diluting the blood and mixing it with other meta abilities. It is a known fact that meta abilities only get stronger with each passing generation and, as such, the meta abilities of the Himura Clan that are likely to be latent within many who are unaware of it, are much stronger.

The Members Of The Himura Family

Among the many members of the Himura Family is Rei Himura. Her parents had Himura blood as well, however, it is quite likely that they didn't practice the intermarriage rule of this family. Rei was eventually married to Endeavor and her children, Fuyumi, Natsuo, and Shoto all possess the powers of ice manipulation. As such, all of these characters are members of the Himura family as well, as their blood runs through their veins. Other than them, the story also introduced two new members with the powers of the Himura Family. One of them is Geten, who was once a lieutenant of the Paranormal Liberation Front and possesses the powers of ice manipulation. Geten cannot produce ice from his body. Instead, he can cool down temperatures severely and freeze any moisture in his surroundings and use that freely in combat.

More recently, My Hero Academia chapter 387 also revealed to the fans that Toya Todoroki also possesses the powers of the Himura family. Rei's ice powers were latent within him and, in a near-death state, they finally shone and awakened. Now, Toya Todoroki possesses the powers of Frost as well. The Himura Family's blood runs thick and even though they have scattered, their powers are everpresent and stronger than they ever were before. When these powers are pursued, a new future for the Himura family will be brought forth and that is certainly going to be a sign to behold.
