My Hero Academia is one of the most popular manga series going on in the Shonen Jump magazine right now. It is an incredible story of how in a world of unique abilities called Quirks, Izuku Midoriya, its protagonist, became the Number One Hero. As with most popular Shonen, My Hero Academia enjoys quite a decent female cast.

Updated on April 14, 2023, by Rei Penber: My Hero Academia has seen the introduction of several incredible female characters over the years. While the vast majority of the show is predominantly focused on the male cast, that does not mean that the author, Horikoshi, hasn't paid any attention to his female cast. There is certainly room for improvement when it comes to the attention that the female cast receives, however, there are already quite a few amazing female characters in My Hero Academia. While this list already goes over the very best of the lot, there are some who have recently, more or less, been at the receiving end of some great attention from the author. With that, this list has now been updated.

Kyoka Jiro is one of the more reserved students in Class 1A. Despite that, she is known to be extremely capable in battle. Jiro has a very kind personality, although she may not show it. She thoroughly enjoys music and everything related to it. In fact, even her powers are related to music as she possesses a quirk named Earphone Jack.

This Quirk has turned her ears into earphone jacks which he can plug into things and use the vibrations of her own heart to deal internal damage to them. She can also notice the faintest of sounds and track enemies better than most. With her Hero Equipment, Jiro can use several powerful techniques that are based around vibration. 12 Mina Ashido

My Hero Academia Best Heteromorphs Mina Ashido aka Pinky

Mina Ashido is one of the most lively female characters in My Hero Academia and she is also a student of class 1A. She has formed a very deep relationship with the vast majority of her classmates, especially Kirishima. Ashido is very capable in battle and she makes use of her Acid Quirk to the fullest when she needs it.

Her strongest technique, named Acidman, was strong enough to melt even the claws of Gigantomachia, which is nothing short of incredible. Although she has not received a lot of attention in the story, she has had her moments here and there, which make her very likable to the fans.

11 Mt. Lady

She even played a role in the Kamino Incident, and the Paranormal Liberation War that followed. In the Final War arc, she is, once again, important and is one of the most useful female characters in the story that Horikoshi has drawn. As the series draws to a close, Mt. Lady is most likely going to get more shine as one of the best My Hero Academia female characters.

10 Mei Hatsume

Mei Hatsume is a character who does not play a major role in the story, however, as far as side characters go, she is very useful. Mei advances the plot in necessary ways. She is a genius when it comes to crafting Hero equipment and her incredible intellect allows her to craft the best technology.

She has been of help to Izuku on several occasions and allows him, as well as all the other Heroes, to channel their best all the time. Mei is not a character who one can expect to be central to an arc, however, she is one that is required the plot to advance in effective ways.

9 Nejire Hado

Nejire Hado is an incredibly powerful student and her skill is comparable to the Pro Heroes, despite merely being an aspirant at the moment. Along with Mirio and Tamaki, she is one of the UA Big 3, and her skills have earned her great plaudits over the years.

She can contend with the mightiest of fighters. In fact, she even fought against Shigaraki and held her own. Nejire possesses the power of the Quirk known as Wave Motion. This ability allows her to channel her vitality as energy waves and deal damage to all her foes. It goes without saying that Nejire has mastered it to the fullest and, right now, she is certainly worthy of being one of the strongest Pro Heroes.

8 Nana Shimura

Nana Shimura

Nana Shimura is a character that fans have not seen much of in My Hero Academia, however, she plays a very significant role in the story and holds tremendous importance. Nana Shimura was the seventh user of the One For All Quirk. As fans know already, the One For All is the Quirk around which the vast majority of My Hero Academia is focused. She was also a mentor to Yagi Toshinori, who ultimately went by the Hero name of All Might.

As the 7th user of All For One, she is one of the vestiges who guide Deku on the path to becoming the greatest Hero of all time. She was once a member of the Hero Commission, however, after being disillusioned by the life that she was living, she killed her higher-ups and ended up in Tartarus.

Eventually, she was freed by All For One and was tasked with bringing Izuku Midoriya to him. While she stood as an enemy in Deku's path, his innocence eventually appealed to her and she saw a bright future within him. In the Final War Saga, Lady Nagant made her return and aided Izuku in the fight against Shigaraki.

6 Ochaco Uraraka

Uraraka and Midoriya in My Hero Academia

Known as Uravity, Ochaco is one of the main characters in My Hero Academia and can be considered the heroine of the series. She is a very bright and bubbly character and her reasons for becoming a hero are rather simple. She wants to make a lot of money for herself and her family, who have only seen poverty throughout their lives.

As such, Ochaco has one of the purest motivations to become a Hero. However, as the series went on, her character developed as well and her motivations became more than just that. Ochaco also wants to become a Hero who is there for heroes when they need help. So far, character moments for her have been limited, however, she is one of the brightest ones in the series so far.

5 Momo Yaoyorozu

Momo is one of the smartest characters in My Hero Academia and also among its best female characters. She's incredibly powerful and her Quirk that lets her manifest anything that she can think of and understand the structure of from her skin makes her even more dangerous.

Momo is more of a support character and she plays that role beautifully well. While, ideally, fans would want to see more of her in action, Momo has done well for herself so far and will potentially get even better as the story moves on.

4 Froppy

Froppy is also a support character in My Hero Academia, just like Momo. Although her character isn't as developed as that of the latter, she is still quite an interesting addition to the cast of My Hero Academia. Her powers are very unique and make for a peculiar addition to the group. She possesses a Quirk called Frog that gives her the features of a frog as well as the abilities of one.

RELATED: My Hero Academia: The Worst Injuries, RankedFroppy is also very kind at heart and, thanks to her, other heroes, such as Izuku, have progressed even further. Among the group, she is one of the most level-headed characters and this quality of hers makes her very special.

3 Cathleen Bate

My Hero Academia Star And Stripe Cathleen Bate

Being strong doesn't automatically make someone a good character, however, My Hero Academia has a dearth of strong female characters. That is exactly where Cathleen Bate steps in. Having only been recently introduced in the series, she is known to have been the Number One Hero in the USA. Her powers were such that they could be compared to the very best seen in My Hero Academia.

She also took on Shigaraki in combat and fared quite well against him, having dominated him for the majority of the fight. Her Quirk, New Order, allowed her to change the rules by which Quirks could be used. Unfortunately, she ended up dying very quickly after being introduced.

2 Himiko Toga

Toga is one of the very few good female characters in the Paranormal Liberation Front. She has been an important part of her group from day one. Her relationships with her friends have been flashed out very well and she is one of the very few female characters in the story that are very well written.

Initially, she was obsessed with Izuku, however, her character has come very far since. Toga fights for her friends with all her life and her Transform Quirk makes her a force to be reckoned with.
