The following contains spoilers for My Hero Academia Chapter 388, "Toya," by Kohei Horikoshi, translated by Caleb Cook available in English from Viz Media.

My Hero Academia chapter 388 was released earlier today and it goes without saying that this chapter was very important to the plotline of the Todoroki Family. As fans know already, this family is crucial to the current events of the manga and the last chapter showed fans how Endeavor was trying his best to deal with his son. Toya means to take down a large portion of the city with him and, above all, he wants to see Endeavor destroyed.

For that cause, he would even sacrifice his own body, as appears to be the case right now. However, whether that will actually end up happening or not remains to be seen. This week's chapter of My Hero Academia was especially intense as the Todoroki Family was the focus once again. At the same time, this chapter felt rather short and proved to be more of a setup chapter for what's to come next.

Rei Steps In

My Hero Academia 388 Todoroki Family

My Hero Academia 388 focused quite a bit on Rei. Towards the end of the previous chapter, fans saw Endeavor taking Toya to the sky, where he intended to go down with him. Much to the fans' surprise, Rei showed up next to him and she believes that it is also her responsibility to make sure that Toya is saved. When people were being evacuated from the city, Rei took it upon herself to get to a robot and have it carry her to where Toya was. Since the robots were designed in a way that they fulfill human desires, they did so without question. As soon as Rei got closer to her son, she used the powers of her ice Quirk to make her way to him. A normal person would be incinerated immediately, however, Rei managed to survive and got closer to him with her Ice powers.

While Endeavor did not want her anywhere near Toya, she managed to get to him and get a word across as well. At the end of the day, she loves her son and recognizes him as the victim of abuse that he is ever since he was a kid. She wants to save her child and, for that reason, she attempted to cool him down with her powers. Surprisingly, Toya also started to recognize his mother and along with her, his siblings as well.

The Todoroki Family Follows

My Hero Academia Chapter 388 Toya

As predicted earlier, Natsuo and Fuyumi also ended up making an appearance in My Hero Academia chapter 388. The Todoroki Family plotline is one that sees every single character play a role to save Toya and, by the looks of it, that is the pathway that Horikoshi is going down at this moment. Both Natsuo and Fuyumi ended up making an appearance in this week's chapter and they followed their mother in an attempt to save Toya. As fans know already, they also have access to the Frost quirk that Rei has. Thus, it wasn't too hard for them to get to Toya. With their combined powers, they will now attempt to freeze him and lower his temperature so that he doesn't explode and, more importantly, doesn't die.

The entirety of the Todoroki Family has now come together and this is going to be the breaking point of this Family arc that has been brewing for quite a long time. In the Final War arc, the Todoroki Family plotline has been simmering and now, fans are at the conclusion, it seems. To conclude this plotline, however, the most important character has not yet made his entrance yet, and that is Shoto Todoroki. As fans know already, Shoto is heading towards Toya and he intends to settle things there, once and for all. With Ingenium at his side, it shouldn't take him too long to get there and, once that happens, the Todoroki Family issue will be settled once and for all.

The recent developments would suggest that Toya will be rescued, however, at a great price. Fans would want for Toya to be redeemed and he certainly deserves one, unlike his father, who has done things that have caused colossal damage. Yet, Endeavor is on the receiving end of some great character development. To sentence his son, Toya, who is only a victim, to a sad death would be harrowing. At the end of the day, only Horikoshi can tell what he really intends to do with him. For now, My Hero Academia is going extremely well and fans hope that it continues over the next few weeks as well. MORE:My Hero Academia: Best Female Characters
