My Hero Academia chapter 367 dropped recently and delivered quite an interesting follow-up on Mirio's short-lived clash against Shigaraki Tomura. Towards the end of the previous chapter, fans saw Deku jump into action and deliver a powerful blow to the greatest villain of all time. This chapter followed up on that and, while the action was certainly lacking, some really good character exposition was provided for both Deku and, even Shigaraki, to some extent.

At the same time, fans also got to see an inner conflict for Deku, which many predicted would happen. Seeing his best friend in front of him was sure to stir up emotions and Horikoshi delivered very well on this end. That, and much more was tackled in My Hero Academia 367, which proved to be a decent addition to the Final War arc.

Deku Arrives On The SceneMHA 367 Deku vs All For One

The beginning of the chapter saw Deku make his way to where the Heroes were confronting Shigaraki. With everyone putting their faith in him, Deku felt more powered up than ever before and delivered a mighty powerful Smash to his arch-nemesis. Expectedly, everyone around Deku cheered for him and, given that he is the one who has inherited the power of All Might, it goes without saying that having him there was a moment of relief for everyone. At the same time, Deku looked around him to gain an idea of the terrain that he would be fighting on, however, he was only met with the fallen bodies of his comrades. The members of the U.A. Big Three, along with Bakugo, all lay on the floor dying.

This was a test of character for Deku and his resolve as a Hero. Deku is still very young. Although he possesses the power of the One For All, the same ability that made All Might the Symbol of Peace, he has not matured yet to a level where he can rival All Might. He lacks battle experience and he lacks the wisdom that All Might possessed. In the moment, Deku ended up losing himself and went fully berserk, just as he did when he fought against Shigaraki in the Paranormal Liberation War arc. According to the latter, Deku seems to have grown much stronger since that time.

Mirio's Role

My Hero Academia 367 Mirio

Mirio played a massive role and My Hero Academia 367 after Deku went into a rage. Everything worked perfectly for All For One as he wanted Deku to lose control over his emotions, leaving him open for counterattacks. However, it was Mirio who provided a moment of hope to all the fans by calming Deku down. Not only did he make Deku understand that nothing was lost just yet, but he also delivered a powerful speech on the optimism of Heroes pushing them to save the day every single time. It is this optimism that has kept the Hero Society standing for centuries.

Heroes are supposed to hope for the best and save everyone with a smile. While that may be idealistic, as All For One pointed out, it is, at the end of the day, something that the Heroes must believe in order to save everyone. The first step for every Hero is to believe in themselves and the fact that they can save everyone around them. Losing sight of that would mean that the heroes are fighting a losing war. Thanks to Mirio, not only did Deku come to his senses but it also provided a much-needed reaffirmation of faith for everyone in the Heroes.

All For One's Plan

Enraged Deku MHA 369

All For One has currently established great control over Shigaraki's body. This has been slowly established in the series and, even towards the end of the Paranormal Liberation War arc, fans saw All For One slowly overwhelm Shigaraki and take his body from him. Especially when he collided against Deku, All For One started to manifest himself more and has only done so to a greater degree ever since. Right now, it was easy for Deku to understand that he is fighting All For One and not Shigaraki. The plan for All For One was to enrage Deku to a point where he loses all sense of semblance and attacks without any strategy.

In his enraged mode, All For One could easily aim for a counter and a single touch would be enough to completely obliterate Deku as he would not be mindful of any incoming attacks. To do this, he attempted to kill Bakugo, however, failed in this attempt.

Nonetheless, Deku did get enraged seeing him lay on the floor dying, and, to an extent, All For One's plan certainly worked. Thanks to Mirio, however, Deku returned to his senses. He was told that everyone was still alive and nothing was lost just yet. Idealistic as it may be, it is the same optimism that makes them Heroes at the end of the day. Holding everyone's hopes and dreams in his heart, Deku now prepares to fight All For One and hold an honest conversation with Shigaraki Tomura. The next few chapters of My Hero Academia are set to be pivotal for both Deku and Shigaraki.
