My Friend Pedro, the 2D shooter from DeadToast Entertainment, is officially being developed as a television series by the writer behind the John Wick film franchise. The adaptation has been acquired by Legendary Entertainment, which has a first-look deal with the D2J, one of the production companies behind the My Friend Pedro project.

To clarify, the My Friend Pedro TV series is a collaboration between Legendary Television, DJ2 Entertainment, and 87North Productions. Its executive producers include John Wick creator and writer Derek Kolstad, DJ2 producers Dmitri M. Johnson, who co-produced the Sonic the Hedgehog film, Stephan Bujag, and Howard Bliss, 87 North's David Leitch, the co-director of John Wick and director of Deadpool 2 and Atomic Blonde, as well as Devolver Digital co-founder Mike Wilson.

Clearly, there are a lot of parties interested in seeing My Friend Pedro succeed. And the fact that the TV series will be written by the writer behind John Wick shows just how realistic it is that this game does end up moving forward. However, there's a lot left to be done. No plans have been announced for a pilot, let alone production for My Friend Pedro.

My Friend Pedro joins a growing list of video games being adapted into television series, specifically by DJ2 Entertainment. Other games being adapted into shows include Sleeping Dogs, We Happy Few, Life Is Strange, and most recently Disco Elysium. Hopefully, gamers get to see all of these games produced into big shows.
