The Open Beta for Super Smash Bros.-like platform fighter MultiVersus opened this past week, and players are already discovering which fighters are strong and which fighters are weak. The good news is that no MultiVersus fighter seems unusable, but that doesn't mean that some couldn't use a buff or two. Only developer Player First Games knows what balance changes are in store, though. Offering a glimpse of what's coming, it's been confirmed that Wonder Woman will be a beneficiary of upcoming buffs.MultiVersus game director Tony Huynh has been incredibly active on Twitter over the past several weeks, interacting with players by answering questions and cheering competitors on. One MultiVersus player recently asked Huynh if Wonder Woman could be buffed, linking a conversation taking issue with her cooldowns and hitbox. Huynh noticed the Twitter post and responded, confirming that Wonder Woman will be receiving some buffs.RELATED: MultiVersus Players Complete Community Challenge in Only 3 Hours to Unlock Rick and Morty StageThere is a catch regarding the Wonder Woman news, however. While she will be getting buffs, it won't be immediate. Player First Games is currently planning to release its next substantial patch following the EVO 2022 fighting game tournament. Huynh confirms this in his tweet, saying that Wonder Woman's buffs will arrive "in the build after evo." EVO runs from August 5 through August 7 with the next update expected for Season 1's launch on August 9.

Wonder Woman is especially important to MultiVersus in a way that other characters aren't. Wonder Woman is the only MultiVersus character given for free to every single player, permanently. She unlocks once players have completed the MultiVersus tutorial. Ensuring that Wonder Woman is competitive so that every player has a solid opportunity to succeed once starting the game is a big deal. That's not to say other characters' balance isn't a priority, too. Wonder Woman is just of unique priority.

Wonder Woman isn't the only MultiVersus fighter that Huynh has talked about prior to the upcoming post-EVO update. He also recently mentioned that Bugs Bunny will be getting some balance changes. Instead of buffs like Wonder Woman, though, Bugs will be getting nerfed. Those certainly aren't the only two characters who will be impacted by upcoming balance changes, but they are some of the most interesting examples.

The post-EVO update is expected on August 9 when First Player Games will be delivering its Season 1 update for MultiVersus. Season 1 will kick off MultiVersus' first full battle pass, as well as the introduction of Rick & Morty's Morty as a playable fighter. MultiVersus will still be in Open Beta, with a full launch planned for later this year as Player First Games continues to polish the experience.

MultiVersus is available in Open Beta now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
