The chaotic fights of MultiVersus will soon be settled on the court with the upcoming addition of the Space Jam arena as a playable map. In addition to providing LeBron James with a home stage, the Space Jam arena brings with it a new playstyle and a basketball weapon usable by any character. Currently, the Space Jam arena is available only for custom matches, but it will be available at a later date for MultiVersus' online matchmaking.Space Jam was released back in 1996 starring Michael Jordan alongside the Looney Tunes and is notable for the first appearance of Lola Bunny. The Space Jam arena in MultiVersus takes inspiration from the second movie, Space Jam: A New Legacy, which came out in 2021 starring current MultiVersus character and NBA superstar LeBron James. While there are no stands filled with cameo appearances the background does include the Mystery Machine, a large ACME illuminated sign, and an alien UFO. Neon highlights on the basketball court give it an electronic, digital look reminiscent of Al.G. Rhythm's court from A New Legacy.RELATED: Unlocking All MultiVersus Halloween Event Cosmetics Takes Over 780 Hours Without Paying Real MoneyUnique to the Space Jam arena among MultiVersus stages is that eliminations can only be achieved sideways and upwards. While upwards eliminations can be achieved as expected, the sideways eliminations require a pair of invisible walls to be broken before characters can be tossed off of the stage. Other MultiVersus stages include the option for hitting characters down and out of the stage but the solid ground of the Space Jam arena removes that as an option which opens up new strategies for existing characters while canceling out some current play styles.

In addition to unique elimination methods is the inclusion of a basketball at the start of each match allowing any character to act like LeBron James and make use of the basketball as a weapon. Scoring points don't give any additional benefits but represent a stage-unique mechanic that opens the door to other similar additions to future stages, such as a Gremlins stage for MultiVersus characters Stripe and Gizmo. The last unique gameplay addition to be found on the Space Jam stage is the addition of mid-court power-ups: a speed boost, strength boost and jump boost. There has been no mention of these power-ups appearing on existing MultiVersus maps.

The unique nature of the Space Jam arena shows that the team behind MultiVersus is continuing to innovate new gameplay additions months after the game's official launch. Fan creations will continue to be incredibly popular among parts of the community with this latest stage perhaps encouraging MultiVersus Quidditch field designs for fan made Harry Potter concepts. With access to the vast Warner Bros. catalog, developer Warner Bros. Interactive can add new characters and stages to MultiVersus for years without running out of material.

MultiVersus is currently available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
