MultiVersus, Warner Bros Interactive’s new platform fighter, just launched its open beta and has been causing quite a buzz in the world of fighting games. Its free-to-play model has made MultiVersus one of the biggest fighting game launches ever, featuring plenty of paid and unlockable ways to customize the game’s roster. Fans on PlayStation who are also subscribed to PS Plus have the opportunity to get a free MVP pack with a special costume for Reindog, one of the game’s default fighters.

Following the success of Smash Bros-like platform fighters in the vein of Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, Warner Bros has released MultiVersus, a fighting game featuring characters from Looney Tunes, DC Comics, and even Game of Thrones. MultiVersus stands out from other premium fighting games with its free-to-play model and monetization scheme. Players can either grind to unlock new characters or purchase the in-game Gleamium currency with real money to unlock more of the roster and additional cosmetic packs. However, PS Plus subscribers can now unlock one customization pack entirely for free.

To celebrate the launch of MultiVersus’s open beta, fans subscribed to the base PS Plus Essential tier can unlock the MVP Pack through the PlayStation Store. The MultiVersus MVP Pack contains a Battle Reindog Variant skin, a Dark Matter Ringout Effect, and a Waterfall Banner. The Reindog skin is, of course, exclusive to Reindog; however, the Ringout Effect and Waterfall Banner can be equipped for any fighter. Hopefully, PS Plus subscribers can expect more free MultiVersus cosmetics in the future as they do with various other free-to-play titles.

MultiVersus Reindog MVP Pack

Currently, the MultiVersus PlayStation Plus MVP Pack is available only to PS Plus subscribers with no other way of purchasing the items individually. However, due to the game's cross-progression system, any fans who own both a PlayStation and a PC/Xbox can buy the MVP Pack and transfer it over to another platform. For more skins, characters, and general cosmetics, fans can purchase the MultiVersus Founder's Pack or the Deluxe and Premium versions. All of which include a treasure trove of character unlock tickets, Gleamium, and the preseason Battle Pass.

So far, it seems like MultiVersus is off to a strong start. The WB platform fighter has had one of the biggest launches for a fighting game on PC, and a string of leaks detailing characters coming to MultiVersus has left fans excited about its future. With a roster of characters featuring LeBron James, Batman, Tom and Jerry, and even a rumored Ted Lasso appearance, MultiVersus might be a fighter worth keeping an eye on.

MultiVersus is available in open beta on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
