Crossover fighting game MultiVersus launched its Season 1 earlier this month with an impressive roster of fighters. Over 20 million have played MultiVersus since the game's open beta, but in order to keep fans engaged for the long-term, the developers will need to add new members to the roster on a regular basis. To that end, MultiVersus has now added Morty Smith from Rick and Morty to the game's roster of playable fighters, available right now.

Morty is the first new MultiVersus fighter to be added to the game since its Season 1 launch, and to commemorate the occasion, Warner Bros. Interactive has released a new gameplay trailer for the character. The trailer shows Morty in action as a Bruiser class character, showcasing his various abilities and voice lines. Morty's attacks are inspired by the Rick and Morty TV series, with Morty having access to Armothy and a Plumbus, both of which should be familiar to fans of the show. Anyone interested in unlocking Morty will have to fork over 3,000 gold or 700 Gleamium. Gold can be earned in-game, while Gleamium is MultiVersus' premium currency.

Fans will have to head to the MultiVersus roster page to see Morty's full suite of cosmetics, but the trailer does show off an emote as well as an alternate skin for Morty. The President Morty skin is available for MultiVersus players to purchase for 500 Gleamium, if they so desire. Unlike characters, skins in MultiVersus can't be purchased with coins, so the only way to get President Morty is by spending real money.

Morty is the first new character added to the MultiVersus roster since the crossover fighting game launched Season 1, but there are at least three more characters expected to arrive between now and when Season 1 concludes on November 15. At some point, Morty will be joined by his grandfather Rick Sanchez in MultiVersus, and while Rick's full move set has not been showcased, leaks have confirmed that Pickle Rick will be an alternate skin in the game.

The other characters confirmed for MultiVersus Season 1 are Black Adam from DC Comics and Stripe from Gremlins. With the Black Adam movie launching in October, it would make sense for the character to be added to MultiVersus around the same time, but it should be stressed that no official release dates have been announced for any of the other new characters coming to the roster.

Besides new characters, fans can look forward to MultiVersus adding Classic Arcade and Ranked Modes during Season 1 as well. Fans will have to stay tuned for specific release dates for the new MultiVersus content on the way for Season 1.

MultiVersus is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
