After months of anticipation, Warner Brothers crossover fighting game MultiVersus is finally in the hands of the players. Just like Super Smash Bros Ultimate, MultiVersus brings together characters from across different IPs to duke it out to discover who would actually win in a fight. Currently, the game features characters from popular IPs like DC Comics, Game of Thrones, The Looney Tunes, and even Tom & Jerry. It also has some pretty fun gameplay to back its roster up, and it has proven to be a hit with platform fighting fans.

While MultiVersus has a lot of Warner Bros. IPs, it has currently left out one of the biggest with Lord of the Rings. Rumors and potential leaks suggest that some Lord of the Rings characters are going to be joining the roster, but there could be even more. Middle-Earth is such a large and varied world that is filled to the brim with all sorts of characters that could translate well to a fighting game, and the developers of MultiVersus really need to tap its potential.

Many people consider Lord of the Rings to be one of the best trilogies ever put to screen, and the world of Middle-Earth has been enthralling audiences ever since it was created by J. R. R. Tolkien back in 1937. People have grown to love characters like Legolas, Frodo, Sam, Gandalf, Aragorn, and even the vile Sauron. The films have been met with immense critical acclaim, and multiple chapters even took home the Best Picture award at The Oscars. It has become one of Warner Brothers most well known franchises, and it only grew after The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Warner Brothers was not done with Middle-Earth after creating the beloved trilogy, so it got to work on a whole new trilogy of Middle-Earth adventures with The Hobbit. The studio turned the smallest book in the series into the most amount of movies, and it proved to be very controversial amongst the fan base. However, the series still went on to become one of the most successful franchises of all time and further cemented the immense love for Middle-Earth.

The story of Middle-Earth will further be expanded upon with the Amazon show The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power and the animated feature film The War of the Rohirrim. These projects have not been seen by general audiences yet, so it is unknown if these will match the quality of the iconic trilogy, but it shows that Middle-Earth is not going anywhere. The franchise will only get larger, and that is not even including the video games that are also going to be exploring this fantastical world.

There are so Many Lord of the Rings Characters That Could Fit

Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit are some of the largest IPs that Warner Brothers has, and they have yet to appear in MultiVersus. Some leaks and rumors have suggested that Legolas and Gandalf will be making an appearance, but they have not been confirmed yet. On top of that, there are many other Lord of the Rings characters that deserve to make the cut. Middle-Earth is vast, varied, and filled with an assortment of iconic fantasy characters that would work great in a platform fighter.

Legolas and Gandalf are perhaps some of the most popular Lord of the Rings characters, but they are not the only fan-favorite Middle-Earth residents. Characters such as Frodo Baggins, Aragorn, Samwise Gamgee, Sauron, Saruman, and even Gimli or Gollum could fit right into the MultiVersus roster. The Middle-Earth characters should not stop there, as The Hobbit trilogy has its own assortment of characters that could make the cut, from Bilbo Baggins and Thorin Oakenshield to Radagast and even Smaug.

There are so many Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit characters that would be great additions to the wild roster of MultiVersus. The game is supposed to bring together Warner Brothers' biggest franchises under one roof, but it has yet to include one of the studio's biggest properties. The vast world of Middle-Earth is just waiting to be tapped by Player First Games, and it really should deliver.

MultiVersus is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
