Black Adam is in cinemas and has also made his way to MultiVersus, a platformer from Warner Bros. The instantly recognizable anti-hero is available to play as a bruiser in MultiVersus and packs quite the punch. However, since Black Adam is new to MultiVersus, many do not know how to play the hero effectively.

Every hero in MultiVersus has three core mechanics, i.e., Direction control, Perks, and Class. Understanding these core mechanics is essential to mastering Black Adam. Black Adam is a bruiser; it is all about being up close and personal against other heroes. Black Adam has Electrify and Shocked status effects that can cause damage over time. Additionally, the Shocked state can be chained to other enemies.

How to Use Black Adam’s Core Abilities

Black Adam does have ranged attacks, but the hero is best suited to creating combos by landing punches. For this reason, players need to get close to their enemies. Moreover, players must understand Black Adam's core abilities and use them appropriately.

Neutral Special - Mehen’s Blessing/Aton’s Havoc

With this ability, Black Adam charges a bolt of lightning that can be used on the ground. When executed, the lightning projectiles grab the enemy and throw them. The longer the ability is charged, the greater the power of the bolts. The bolts can chain to enemies and allies, debuffing enemies and buffing allies simultaneously. This ability can be used as crowd control whenever the enemy team gets the upper hand.

Black Adam’s neutral special works differently in the air, stopping projectiles dead in their tracks. The projectiles can then be redirected back to the enemy team. This ability should be used while descending to prevent Black Adam from becoming an easy target.

Side Special - Zehuti’s Vision/Zehuti’s Foresight

The side special is the same no matter where it is used. Once executed, the side special will cause Black Adam to charge forward with a bold of energy in tow. The ability can force the enemy team to turn towards Black Adam, causing the bolt of lightning to zap the enemy from the back.

Up Special - Heru’s Recovery/Heru’s Flight

Like the side special, the up special works the same way on the ground and in the air. The up special allows Black Adam to fly in the MultiVersus Arena in any direction momentarily. The ability is not offensive, but it is a great recovery move.

Down Special - Amon’s Wrath/Shu’s Protection

The down special varies on the ground and in the air. When used on the ground, Black Adam creates a special barrier that can stop enemy projectiles and causes them to explode, dealing massive damage to the nearby enemies. The down special is a great defensive move and can be combined with the side special. The bolts of lightning of the side special will bounce off the down special, causing panic and confusion in the opposing team.

On the flip side, the down special in the air results in two lightning projectiles being fired at an opponent, which can be perfect for keeping enemies at bay while Black Adam descends.

Tips for Advanced Players

  • Black Adam’s forward normal attack in the air is broken into two parts. The first may not be special, but the second attack is an uppercut that can cause serious damage. This attack move can be used for ringouts.
  • To close the gap with enemies, use the forward ground special move. It can also be used to assist allies when the need arises. Moreover, the ability can also be used to start combos after moving past an enemy.
  • Black Adam’s normal attack has a longer active duration on the ground or in the air. This normal attack can be deadly against enemies that are not careful about their movements.
  • Black Adam can be stalled to go on the offensive with the down air special when approaching enemies in the air. The lightning bolts have a decent range and can cause extensive damage while keeping Black Adam out of harm’s way.

What are the Best Perks for Black Adam?

Black Adam is incredibly agile and maneuverable and is perhaps one of the strongest heroes in MultiVersus. Unfortunately, most of Black Adam's moves have cooldowns. To counter this, perks like “I Dodge You Dodge We Dodge” and “Coffezilla” will prove useful. Since Black Adam has projectile-based attacks, perks like “Shirt Cannon Sniper” and “Deadshot, Make It Rain Dog” can amplify them. To mix things up a bit, players can use “The Hierarchy of Power” to play a supporting role, while “Circuit Breaker” can be used for rushdown strategies.

MultiVersus is available on PC, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
