MultiVersus is just a day away from its first major update since it soft-launched its Open Beta. First will come MultiVersus Season 1 and an accompanying battle pass. Then both Morty and Rick will follow in the weeks ahead. Yet MultiVersus developer Player First Games is already looking toward the future and the addition of many more fighters. To players' surprise, what could be a teaser for an upcoming character was recently shared on social media.

MultiVersus game director Tony Huynh has used his Twitter account to frequently communicate with the fighting game's player base since Open Beta first launched. While most of his posts revolve around feedback and ongoing bugs, occasionally he offers a hint at Player First's plans for the future. In one recent tweet, Huynh offered a hint at what could be an upcoming MultiVersus character release. He said, cryptically, "Who likes bows and arrows?"

Obviously, that's not a character announcement by any means. But it's difficult to read the message from Huynh as anything other than a hint at what could be coming in MultiVersus' future. There are no currently available MultiVersus characters with a bow and arrows, but there are certainly some possibilities that could be added in the future.

Those within the MultiVersus community couldn't help but speculate regarding which character Huynh might be teasing for the future. The most popular choice by far is Legolas from The Lord of the Rings. There's also Green Arrow, a DC Comics superhero. Another realistic option is Gizmo from Gremlins 2, who at one point fashions a bow and arrow from paperclips and a pencil. Some unlikely but fun ideas include Robin Hood, The Indian in the Cupboard, or the long-shot possibility of Katniss from The Hunger Games.

If Huynh is teasing a possible addition to MultiVersus for Season 1, as opposed to a character further out, then Legolas seems like the correct answer. Prior MultiVersus leaks have hinted at The Lord of the Rings additions to the fighting game including both Legolas and Gandalf. Warner Bros. also has the license for the films still, so there's no issue there.

All things considered, this is still not a formal announcement by any means. Huynh likes to share bits of information as he's able, but plans change. For example, Wonder Woman was hinted at receiving buffs in an upcoming patch but plans likely changed when Wonder Woman was a part of the team that won the recent EVO 2022 MultiVersus tournament. Don't be surprised if a certain long-eared archer gets revealed after Rick and Morty arrive, though.

MultiVersus is available now in Open Beta on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
