MultiVersus has done an impressive job of bringing together characters from several major franchises, whether it's superheroes from DC Comics, LeBron James from Space Jam, or cartoons like Bugs Bunny, Stephen Universe, and the Iron Giant. Players understandably have their own picks that they'd love to see added to MultiVersus in the future, though. That includes MultiVersus game director Tony Huynh. Huynh recently posted about a pair of popular Cartoon Network characters, saying he'll "try really hard" to get them added to MultiVersus.

Huynh has been incredibly active on Twitter since MultiVersus launched its early access Open Beta, responding to MultiVersus players regarding a diverse range of subjects. Huynh dropped a tweet on Friday mentioning they were working on an upcoming character, saying developer Player First Games has some "really cool stuff" in store. This post was responded to by a fan asking if Mordecai and Rigby from Regular Show could be added to MultiVersus. Huynh responded and was very open to the idea.

"I'll try really hard," is what Huynh said about the possibility of adding Mordecai and Rigby to MultiVersus. He'd go on to say that Regular Show is one of his "favorite" shows. Huynh doesn't respond to every request he gets on Twitter, and fewer yet for random characters to be added to the game. That he noticed and decided to respond to a fan of Regular Show is supporting evidence that Huynh is speaking from the heart.

Just because Huynh would love to see Mordecai and Rigby in MultiVersus doesn't mean that it will happen, of course. Even as the game director for MultiVersus, Huynh doesn't control over every creative decision Player First Games makes. And even if he did have the power to make it happen immediately, that doesn't mean Huynh would prioritize his own favorites over other characters that might prove more successful in MultiVersus.

Regular Show ran on Cartoon Network between 2009 and 2017. Across eight seasons and over 250 episodes, Mordecai and Rigby had an incredible amount of oddball adventures with their co-workers Hi-Five Ghost, Muscle Man, Pops, and Skips, along with their boss Benson. Regular Show was best known for its mix of absurdity and escalating ridiculousness combined with mundane slice-of-life elements.

By all indications, MultiVersus is more than open to bringing oddball Cartoon Network characters into the game. If Adventure Time and Steven Universe can be a part of the fighting game universe, so can Regular Show. Having Huynh there supporting the possibility makes the addition all the more realistic, but it may be awhile before Mordecai and Rigby make their way to the game since there are many other Warner Bros. characters that can be added.

MultiVersus is available now in Open Beta on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
