In recent years, various games have tried to knock Super Smash Bros. off its throne, with little success. However, the recently-released MultiVersus may be the best Smash Bros. alternative yet, with millions trying the free-to-play open beta and a lot of positive buzz surrounding the game. Part of the reason why there's so much hype surrounding MultiVersus is due to the game's bizarre but varied roster, which features all sorts of characters pulled from very different franchises.

The MultiVersus roster is ridiculous on paper, but it all works well in the context of the game. In MultiVersus, players can pit Arya Stark from Game of Thrones up against beloved cartoon characters like Bugs Bunny, and they can have DC Comics superheroes like Batman and Wonder Woman go toe to toe with characters like Shaggy and Velma. The MultiVersus roster at launch is already quite varied and exciting, but there are even more characters coming in future updates.

MultiVersus developer Player First Games has kept mostly quiet about future roster additions, beyond the fact that Rick and Morty are both on their way. But while official announcements are hard to come by, there have been many datamine leaks, from earlier tests and the current beta, that have potentially pulled the curtain back on some other characters that may be making their way to MultiVersus at some point down the line.

MultiVersus Leaked Characters List

  • Animaniacs
  • Beetlejuice
  • Ben 10
  • Black Adam
  • Brute (OC)
  • Craig
  • Daenerys Targaryen
  • Daffy Duck
  • Eleven
  • Emmet
  • Fred Flintstone
  • Gandalf
  • Gizmo & Stripe
  • Godzilla
  • Johnny Bravo
  • Marvin the Martian
  • Ninja (OC)
  • Poison Ivy
  • Powerpuff Girls
  • Raven
  • Samurai Jack
  • Scorpion
  • Scooby-Doo
  • Static Shock
  • Ted Lasso
  • The Hound
  • The Joker
  • Wicked Witch of the West

It should be noted that not all of these characters may actually make the cut. In fact, some characters listed here only appeared in earlier datamines and their files have seemingly been removed since. However, it's easy to see how many of these characters could easily make the cut. For example, it would make a lot of sense to add more Scooby-Doo characters, especially Scooby himself, and WB-owned cartoon characters like Daffy Duck and Marvin the Martian seem like no-brainers. There are some "out there" choices as well, like Ted Lasso, but MultiVersus has already proven that just about anyone can fit on its roster.

One would think new character additions to MultiVersus would be used as a marketing tool of sorts to promote things. For example, with the House of the Dragon TV series set to debut on HBO Max, it would make sense to add another Game of Thrones character to MultiVersus to help promote it. And if a character like Eleven from Stranger Things is coming to MultiVersus as the leaks have suggested, one would think she wouldn't be added until Season 5 of Stranger Things drops to better capitalize on the popularity of the TV series.

Ultimately, none of these characters have actually been confirmed for MultiVersus in an official capacity, so fans should keep their expectations in check. There are many characters that would make great additions to the MultiVersus roster, but that doesn't mean they will all make the cut.

MultiVersus is in open beta on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
