Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlords has been in Early Access for all of a couple of days, and players are already uncovering its special secrets--including the ability to play the game as an actual baby.

Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlords is the long-awaited follow-up to Warband, the first game in the series, and it involves both one-on-one combat as well as army warfare. Players can take on the role of a medieval soldier, focusing on infantry, ranged, or cavalry...and apparently there isn't an age limit for joining this medieval army.

As Bannerlords players have established, it's quite easy to get the hidden "baby" player character. All it takes is pressing the ‘R’ key while the character creation screen is up, and then the character will become a baby. There are robes that fit the baby, so there's no problem with clothing not working on the suddenly tiny body. However, weapons don't adjust accordingly, which means a baby player character can run around wielding comically large polearms if players so choose.

Oddly enough, there are advantages to playing as a baby in Bannerlords, too. Pick the right shield (one that completely covers up the baby's body), and they become impossible to hit in battle while still able to strike out at foes.

Terrifyingly fast ax-wielding babies aside, Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlords is enjoying its status as the biggest Steam launch in 2020 so far, its player count having hit 164,078 within a couple of hours of launch.

Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlords is in early access now for PC.
