2022 has been a great year for gaming with many highly anticipated titles coming out including Elden Ring, Horizon Forbidden West, and the recently released God of War Ragnarok. However, many users don’t buy games on day one as they decide to wait for sales before making a new purchase. Unscrambled-words.com conducted research into the average monthly Google searches for various video game franchises in the US. Elden Ring has been a massive success for From Software and Bandai Namco Entertainment, and it takes the top spot in this list with 1,700,000 searches. Horizon Forbidden West comes second at 410,000, signifying a massive gap from the top spot. Two huge franchises follow, with God of War and Call of Duty sitting at 266,000 and 256,000 Google searches respectively.

Bayonetta 3 is the only Nintendo Switch exclusive in this list with 46,000 Google searches and FIFA 23 takes the final spot with 40,000 hits.

While this list is based on data from the US, the worldwide list will likely look pretty similar as it mainly consists of the biggest franchises in gaming. Outside big releases, The Quarry and Bayonetta 3 are perhaps the biggest surprise additions to this list. Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales may also come as a surprise considering it’s a relatively older title, and the game is also available to PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscribers at no extra charge.

Black Friday is probably going to be a huge month for video game sales, and this list only represents a selection of titles. Fans will be able to get discounts on a massive number of games in both physical stores and digital storefronts on various platforms.
