Since all of the legendary weapons in Assassin's Creed Odyssey cap out at a similar baseline DPS, choosing which weapon to carry through the endgame can be a bit of a quandary. For the most part, everything is going to boil down to the engravings. The unique traits that these offer for each legendary weapon and the way that they complement the player's build will generally determine which they should be hunting down.

That said, some of the legendary armaments that your misthios will stumble across over the course of their sojourn through ancient Greece are simply going to be better than others, regardless of your preference or build. Whether they achieve higher damage potential through a set of focused damage bonuses or possess a particularly stellar legendary engraving, the ten legendary weapons listed below are definitely the ten best to be found in Assassin's Creed Odyssey.

Updated September 7th, 2021 by Russ Boswell: Although we've seen an entirely new Assassin's Creed adventure, and have more coming on the horizon, many players have yet to hop into the epic that is Assassin's Creed Odyssey. Considered a step in the right direction from Origins, AC: Odyssey features a fantastic storyline, great RPG elements, and the iconic gameplay the series is known for. Even in 2021, there are still new players just now starting their journey. Those new to the title should know that there are a lot of weapons to be found and unlocked. But what are the best weapons in Assassin's Creed Odyssey? To help players find some truly powerful gear, the following list has been updated with even more of the best weapons in AC: Odyssey, as well as where to find them.

12 The Fanged Bow

Assassins Creed Odyssey fanged bow splash shot
  • Type: Bow
  • Engravings: +11% Assassin's Damage, +12% Poison Damage, All normal arrows are poison arrows.

Although there are a lot of great weapons available in Assassin's Creedy Odyssey, some of them are reserved for the late-to-end game. The Fanged Bow is one fantastic exception, as players can get their hands on it pretty early in their adventure (minimum level of 23). This long-range weapon comes with additional Assassin and Poison Damage but its coup de grace is the fact that it turns normal arrows into poison arrows. This will allow you to clear waves of enemies while also applying dot damage to stronger foes.

Where to find The Fanged Bow

  • The Fanged Bow is found in the Cave of Mt. Zas in Naxos.

11 The Hammer Of Jason

Assassins-Creed-Odyssey-Hammer-of-Jason being held wielded
  • Type: Heavy Blunt
  • Engravings: +9% Warrior Damage, +6% Damage with Heavy Blunt Weapons, 20% damage increase when used with Shield Breaker.

The Hammer of Jason is a great find for players that love the Shield Breaker Warrior skill. Those carrying both Hammer of Jason and the Shield Breaker ability will be able to completely eradicated shield-based enemies, by first taking their defenses away and then hitting them for an additional 20% damage thanks to the blunt weapon's third engraving. Those that like to fight up-close-and-personal will greatly benefit from this awesome heavy-blunt weapon. They'll never have to worry about breaking through a shielded player's defenses ever again with this tandem.

Where to find The Hammer Of Jason

  • The Hammer of Jason is found in a building's bottom-most floor in Mycenae fort in Korinthia.

10 Poseidon's Trident

  • Type: Spear
  • Engravings: +15% Warrior Damage, +25% Critical Damage, Wielder can breathe underwater.

Firstly, it's a trident, and skewering your opponent on a gigantic fork is worth quite a bit in terms of style points. But the true worth of Poseidon's Trident is utilitarian in nature, although it does come loaded with a couple of engravings that will boost combat performance considerably.

The legendary engraving on Poseidon's Trident allows the wielder to breathe underwater, which is totally invaluable for the game's myriad underwater sections. The fact that this perk doesn't really provide any meaningful boost to damage or combat functionality hurts it in terms of ranking, but it's so useful that it at least secures its place as an honorable mention.

Where To Find Poseidon's Trident

  • Poseidon's Trident is found on an unmarked island in Northeast of Greece, between Chios and Samos.

9 Mallet of Everlasting Flame

  • Type: Heavy Blunt
  • Engravings: +15% Warrior Damage, +20% Flame Damage, Converts all normal attacks to Flame Damage.

Glossing over the inherent coolness factor of swinging around a massive flaming bludgeon, which is decidedly not very typical of the Assassin's Creed style, the Mallet of Everlasting Flame is an incredibly sound choice of weaponry. The legendary engraving converts all normal attacks into flame damage, which can save you a slot on your skill bar.

It also provides a twenty percent bonus to flame damage. Stacking with the fifteen percent increase to warrior damage, you wind up with an incredibly solid damage boost that sets enemies on fire without needing to rely on popping the Flaming Attacks skill.

Where To Find Mallet Of Everlasting Flame

  • The Mallet Of Everlasting Flame is found by defeating a Mercenary with the "last name" The Smoldering.

8 Prometheus' Sika

  • Type: Sword
  • Engravings: +25% Warrior Damage, +40% Fire Damage, +15% Fire Damage and Buildup.

Prometheus' Sika is a pyromaniac's dream. Its legendary engraving might seem a little underwhelming at first, providing a fifteen percent boost to fire buildup when attempting to set your foes aflame. But combined with its other default attributes, you wind up doing a fearsome amount of damage with it.

It also carries considerable increases to both warrior and flame damage, and all those numbers add up to a massive chunk. You'll need to rely on the Flaming Attacks skill in order to reap the full suite of benefits from it, but it's more than worth the skill investment.

Where To Find Prometheus' Sika

  • Prometheus' Sika can be found by defeating a Mercenary with the "last name" The Spark.

7 Dionysos' Tears

  • Type: Dagger
  • Engravings: +25% Assassin Damage, +40% Adrenaline gained per Critical Hit, 2% chance to deal 25% additional Assassin Damage on each Melee Hit.
  • The Dionysos' Tears dagger is a part of the Dionysos Pack DLC, however it's also available as a piecemeal purchase from the Helix store. Whatever route you choose when it comes to acquiring it, you're going to be pleasantly surprised with the results, to say the very least.

Its regular engravings lean into the assassin play style nicely, packing in a healthy boost (up to 25%) for Assassin damage and increasing adrenaline gain from critical hits. What really stands out is the legendary engraving that has a slight chance to deal a flat 25% of your assassin damage when landing a melee strike. The only drawback is that it's a two percent chance, making it unreliable. But when it does pop, you're going to feel it.

Where To Find Dionysos' Tears

  • Dionysos' Tears are found in the Dionysos Pack DLC.

6 Bident of the Underworld

  • Type: Spear
  • Engravings: +25% Warrior Damage, +30% Damage with Spears, +25% Warrior Damage but -15% Ranged Resistance

This two-pronged spear is available as a Helix store purchase, either by itself or as a part of the Underworld Mythical Pack DLC. It's arguably one of the strongest spears in the game, providing an absurd damage boost almost unconditionally.

After it's been topped out, this thing stacks a twenty five percent bonus to warrior damage alongside a meaty thirty percent increase to spear damage. If that wasn't enough, the legendary engraving also boosts warrior damage by twenty five percent, but with the slight catch of reducing your ranged resistance by fifteen percent.

Where To Find The Bident Of The Underworld

  • The Bident Of The Underworld is found in the Underworld Mythical Pack DLC.

5 Achilles' Bow

  • Type: Bow
  • Engravings: +25% Hunter Damage, +10% CRIT Chance, +20% Damage with Devastating Shot Ability

Deciding on the best bow in the game is largely going to be a subjective consideration, as it generally depends on whether or not your character is actually focused on using them. If that's the case, then Achilles' Bow is probably the weapon for you, as it's straightforwardly centered on one of the most damaging hunter abilities.

Providing a twenty percent increase to the damage dealt by the Devastating Shot ability is no joke, as it's already an extremely powerful shot. It backs this legendary engraving up with a fifteen percent increase to hunter damage in general, as well as an always welcome five percent increase to critical hit chance.

Where to Find Achilles' Bow

  • Achilles' Bow is found by defeating a Mercenary with the "last name" The Marksman.

4 Harpe of Perseus

  • Type: Sword
  • Engravings: +25% Hunter Damage, +50% CRIT Damage, -25% Cooldown Duration for All Abilities.

The Harpe of Perseus can be a bit of a letdown for anyone focusing on the Warrior or Assassin skill trees, as any player partial to utilizing swords will often be, since its first engraving is a boost to hunter damage. Ignoring that, however, it has one of the best legendary engravings in the game attached to it.

This engraving knocks off twenty-five percent of the cooldown period for all abilities, which can be absolutely crucial when spamming your most powerful or useful abilities. Even if you don't dig the rest of the weapons' charms, you can always slap that amazing engraving onto a weapon more fitting to your style of play.

Where To Find Harpe of Perseus

  • Harpe of Perseus is found by completing the Writhing Dead quest.

3 Xiphos of Dionysos

  • Type: Sword
  • Engravings: +25% Assassin Damage, +50% CRIT Damage, +20% Damage when used with the Hero Strike Ability.

Obtaining this legendary blade will have to wait until you're well into the game, as slaying the cultist that carries it won't be a possibility until then. However, you can rest entirely assured that this beauty is more than well worth the wait.

The Xiphos of Dionysos is practically tailored for an assassin-oriented build, coming with engravings that provide big boosts to both base assassin damage and critical hit damage. Its legendary engraving also increases the damage output of the powerful Hero Strike ability in the assassin tree, making it even more lethal than it already is.

Where To Find Xiphos of Dionysos

  • Xiphos of Dionysos is found by defeating Pausanias of Sparta.

2 Dagger of Kronus

  • Type: Dagger
  • Engravings: +25% Warrior Damage, +30% Damage with Daggers, +40% Damage when attacking enemies from behind.

The Dagger of Kronus might initially seem a bit odd, as its engravings seem to conflict with one another. However, when applied correctly, it's easily one of the most beastly weapons available in the game due to the sheer damage output that it's capable of.

Carrying a twenty-five percent increase to warrior damage as well as thirty percent increase to damage done with daggers, it definitely starts out strong. The legendary engraving might seem more geared towards assassins, with its terrifying forty percent increase to damage done when oriented behind the foe, but it's just a matter of positioning yourself correctly during a fight and taking advantage of the opportunity every time it presents itself.

Where To Find Dagger of Kronus

  • Dagger of Kronus is found by defeating Nyx the Shadow.

1 Falx of Olympos

  • Type: Spear
  • Engravings: +25% Assassin Damage, +40% Adrenaline per CRIT, +100% Damage but player health is capped to 25%.

The Falx of Olympos is both the most unique and powerful weapon in the spear category, if not the entirety of the game, thanks to its legendary engraving. However, its great power comes at an incredibly heavy price, so one must be remarkably careful in its application.

The Falx starts out with a twenty-five percent increase to assassin damage in addition to boosting your adrenaline gain on critical hits by forty percent. Its legendary engraving increases your damage by a ludicrous one hundred percent, basically doubling it. However, it also caps your health at twenty-five percent of maximum. It effectively turns you into a glass cannon, but good luck finding an enemy that can withstand a Hero Strike while wielding it.

Where To Find Falx of Olympos

  • Falx of Olympos is found in the Palace of Amphitrite.
