Whether due to the roles that they're cast in or the way that they choose to play them, some actors come across as being much nicer than others. Unfortunately, being nice on screen doesn't always equate to being a good person in the real world, with stories about Hollywood stars treating everyday people like garbage being all too common nowadays. Of course, that's not to say that there aren't still plenty of genuine and down-to-earth actors out there.
These days, it's not at all uncommon for people to share details of their run-ins with celebrities and famous actors on social media and sites like Reddit, which has led to some actors gaining the reputation of being really great people. The most likable actors in film and television carry this positive energy into many of their roles too, making them far more relatable and agreeable than a lot of their peers.
5 David Tennant
Most Doctor Who fans consider David Tennant to be the best Doctor of the modern era, if not the best Doctor of all time. There are a variety of reasons for this, but one of the main ones is how human and relatable Tennant's Doctor was able to come across. A big part of this was down to Tennant himself, who, as well as being a great actor, also comes across as a really great guy.
The way he carries himself during interviews is admirable and paints a picture of a person who just loves doing what he does. Whether he's playing the good guy or the villain, his appearances are always top-drawer and the charity work carried out by him and his wife Georgia has helped to change countless lives over the years.
4 Tom Hanks
It's very rare to see Tom Hanks play a bad guy, and there's a very good reason for that. The actor has built his career around convincing performances as kind-hearted and often heroic characters to the point where it would be very difficult to believe him capable of evil actions even in spite of his incredible acting skills.
By all accounts, Hanks is every bit as pleasant when the cameras stop rolling, both to cast and crew and regular people who happen to bump into him in public while he goes about his day-to-day life. It's for this reason that some 2022 footage of him losing his cool with some autograph hunters went viral, though, given the fact that one of them almost knocked his wife over, his reaction was more than understandable.
3 Morgan Freeman
The tone and texture of Morgan Freeman's voice manages to be both soothing and commanding, making it perfect for movie and television narration. That's not to say that his acting skills aren't equally excellent though, as evidenced by his strong portfolio of movie, stage, and television work, which has seen him play a wide range of roles including Neil Armstrong, Malcolm X, and, on a couple of occasions, even God himself.
It perhaps helps that most of Freeman's biggest roles have come after the actor's 40th birthday, ensuring that the spotlight wasn't shining too brightly on him during his formative years. That said, there's no evidence to suggest that Freeman was anything but loveable prior to becoming a household name, either in public or behind closed doors, which is why he is one of the most likable actors around.
2 Betty White
The late, great, Betty White is one of the first names that springs to mind when people are asked to think of a kind and caring Hollywood star. She's one of the most wholesome actresses to have ever graced the silver screen and starred in many great movies and television shows during her illustrious nine-decade-spanning career.
Though White is often thought of as being a motherly figure due to some of her more prominent roles, she also had a wicked sense of humor and was known for making her co-stars laugh out loud on set. She may be gone, but White leaves behind an incredible body of work and still holds a Guinness World Record for the 83 years that she spent working in television.
1 Keanu Reeves
With the exception of one former Friends star who shall not be named, it's difficult to find too many people who don't like Keanu Reeves. As an actor, he's a little reminiscent of Harrison Ford, having starred as some of the most iconic movie characters of the last generation. It's not his acting that makes Reeves so popular though, but more the way that he conducts himself off-screen.
By all accounts, Reeves is one of the most down-to-earth actors around too despite being one of the most popular actors on the planet. An audience member famously told Reeves that he was breathtaking during Microsoft's E3 conference in 2019, and the actor's response - to tell the heckler and the audience that it was in fact they who were breathtaking - perfectly sums up why he is so beloved.
