It can sometimes be surprising how quickly players get attached to creatures in games, no matter whether they are friendly or dangerous and destructive. Many people pay attention to these "cute" mobs, especially if they are familiar and lovable creatures like a dog.

Whether vital to the plot or a small enemy on the side, players can give value to anything, such as slimes. Even when attacking a player, these can be seen as enjoyable. There are so many amazing slimes in both past and present gaming history, but some stand out as the most iconic.

7 Elden Ring

Silver Tears are enemies in Elden Ring. They are dark silver slime puddles. They have various forms and abilities, from spitting projectiles to forming large spike spears. They can transform into mimics of humanoid enemies after players defeat the Mimic Tear boss, and there is even an ash summon of this in which the mimic becomes a replica of the player.

There are four variations of Silver Tears. The common one sprouts a spear to attack or shoot players. The electric one explodes in a burst of electricity. The shielded ones have a shield to block all attacks made from the front. Lastly, there are the mimic ones that can reform into silver versions of other enemies. They are a gooey enemy that players watch dissolve when defeated.

6 Pokemon

There are several Pokemon that look like slimes, such as Grimer and its evolution Muk, Ditto, Milcery, Goomy and both its evolutions, and Solosis and both its evolutions. Grimer and Muk are Poison-type Pokemon and are up of dirty, slimy sludge. Because they don't have a solid form, they can squeeze into crevices and pipes. Similar to them, Ditto is described as amorphous, despite being depicted in art with implied limbs. It's a purple-pink blob and able to transform itself into anything.

Some creatures have more shape, such as Goomy and its evolutions who drip slime and look like slugs, or Milcery which looks like a splash of milk and constantly drips cream. Other Pokemon are not slime but instead incased in it, such as Solosis and its evolutions. All are encased in a gelatinous green substance.

5 World Of Goo

World of Goo is a game centered completely around slimy goos and using them to create structures and move through levels. There are many types of goos and each has a different function. Black Goos are the standard building blocks with two legs. White Goos are similar to the black ones, but with four legs and less adjustability to allow for more stability. Green Goos can be detached and reattached from other goos. Water Goos can only attach in one location which is ideal for building downward.

Red Goos are like the black ones but will burst into flame if exposed to fire and then pop. Beauty Goos can be broken down and used to fill red pipes and are often paired with Ugly Goos, who sacrifice themselves to help. While Balloon Goos float and help the player progress, they are not categorized as a true goo.

4 Dragon Quest

Some recurring creatures in the Dragon Quest franchise are slimes. They are shaped like rain droplets or onions, have large round eyes, and a silly toothless smile. They are considered a weak enemy with very few special abilities, though a few stronger variants do exist, such as a king slime or a slime stack. Since their appearance is uniform and gelatinous, their genders cannot be determined by appearance.

Some slimes have been domesticated and are pets and not enemies. In several versions, these friendly slimes can speak to humans. Some even make slime puns, such as saying "gooman" instead of "human".

3 Stardew Valley

2 Minecraft

Minecraft Slimes

Slimes are cube-shaped monsters in Minecraft. They have a very similar appearance to Gelatinous Cubes from Dungeons & Dragons. Slimes bounce around underground and in swamp biomes and are hostile toward players. The amount of health a slime has is dependent on its size.

When attacked, they will split into multiple smaller slimes until they eventually drop slime balls. These can be used in various crafting recipes, including being used for animal leads. Slimes are one of the few mobs that will continue to move even when a player is not nearby.

1 Slime Rancher

Different types of slimes in Slime Rancher

Slime Rancher is a game made completely around the concept of caring for slimes. Slimes are circular gelatinous aliens that come in a multitude of varieties. When fed, they leave behind plorts, which are used for creating gadgets, unlocking new areas, and making money. Smaller slimes can be converted into Largo slimes which are larger variants, and all slimes can be cross-bred, so they produce two types of plorts.

Each type of slime has a unique trait and appearance to identify it, and they have a favorite type of food. There are ten docile slime types, six that can damage the player, eight special types, and two that are hostile. Most slimes always look happy, unless they are hungry or agitated.
