A new update for Mortal Shell has arrived for Xbox Series S, and it improves the game's performance. The Souls-like from Cold Symmetry is continuing to evolve, and this most recent example sees this version of the game get an FPS boost.

Mortal Shell reviewed well when it launched last year. As a game inspired by the likes of Dark Souls and Demon's Souls, it still manages to innovate. The game launched on the PC, PS4, and Xbox One, but since then it has released on more platforms.

Mortal Shells received free Xbox Series X and PS5 upgrades last month in March. Mortal Shell: Enhanced Edition comes with major visual improvements, a smoother frame rate, better resolution, and more for the Xbox Series X and PS5 versions. The Xbox Series S, however, missed out on a lot of the improvements, but a recent update changes that.

Xbox Series S players can now look forward to a new setting in Mortal Shell. The game can run at a fluid 60 fps and 1080p resolution thanks to a recent update. This should be a big deal for many fans, as this was certainly a request.

It is not easy to go head-to-head against the likes of games such as Demon's Souls, and Mortal Shell dropped only a few months before the  Demon's Souls remake on the PS5. But Mortal Shell certainly has its following, and it helps that the game is on multiple platforms, including the Xbox. Ongoing support via updates, content drops, and patches will only help the game continue to be played by as many gamers as possible.

Mortal Shell is out now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
