Ever wonder what it would be to break the insides of a Mortal Kombat fighter? Including the series' most recent combatant Kratos?

Well, you're in luck, as latest Mortal Kombat title approaches they are bringing something new to the mix with the all new X-Ray attack and today we've got a new developer feature that takes a closer look at the new attack.

The x-ray attack shows us how damaging each attack is - by giving players an inside view of their opponent's bones and organs being crushed. The X-Ray attack doesn't just end at bones, it also give you the gratifying view of muscles being torn and ruptured organs.

Check out the video of the developers explaining the process that went into the X-Ray mode below - courtesy of IGN:

So far there is no word on how the x-ray modes affects the combat (or kombat). One of our own writers had the pleasure of previewing the title and giving his hands-on impressions of the game - explaining how gruesome the new X-ray mode is onscreen.

Although the x-ray feature furthers Mortal Kombat's reputation as the most violent fighter out there, it still runs the risk of being gimmicky. Mortal Kombat is a long running series and will need more than just a few tricks to compete with the modern fighters of today's time. Especially since today's popular fighters also has something to set them apart. It doesn't seem like an X-Ray feature could compete with Dead or Alive's realism (and cartoon boobs), Super Street Fighter IV's online perfection, or the sheer pandemonium featured in the widely anticipated Marvel vs Capcom 3.

Hopefully viewing the busted insides of your enemies will add some freshness to the series. If a front row view of your enemies torn insides doesn't get you excited (you might be a normal person) then check out the premier trailer.

Mortal Kombat is set to release April 19th, 2011 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
