Mortal Kombat X: Watch Every New DLC Character’s Fatality

By | 8 months ago

After months of anticipation, four new DLC kombatants were introduced to Mortal Kombat X this week — and you can see all their disgusting new fatalities right here.

This week, NetherRealm Studios presented Mortal Kombat X players with the game’s second set of DLC kombatants, almost a year after its initial launch. Now, it’s a question of which characters will prove to be the most effective, as they’re put through their paces by the passionate fighting game community.

However, in a game like Mortal Kombat X, the worth of a fighter isn’t just how effective their moveset is in competition. Even after two decades of ultraviolence, fatalities are still an important factor to consider when you’re choosing your character — and the new crop are just as explicit as any that we’ve seen before.

First up is the Alien, which uses both its retractable inner mouth and sharp tail to great effect. These finishers will be familiar to any fans of the movie franchise that birthed the Xenomorph, but they’re completely appropriate for the Mortal Kombat series, also.

Next up is another murderer from the movies; Leatherface from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre films. Unsurprisingly, his trusty chainsaw is the defining element of both of his fatalities, as he splits his opponent down the middle either vertically or horizontally. Variety is the spice of life, even for a crazed killer.

Considered by some to be a comedy character, drunken master Bo’ Rai Cho’s fatalities both make sterling use of a jug of his highly alcoholic grog. It seems that the beverage is powerful enough to make people vomit up their own intestines — and it’s worth noting that it’s highly flammable, to boot.

Last — but certainly not least — there’s Triborg, who may well have been blessed with the best fatalities in the game. The character brings together four favoured competitors from Mortal Kombat 3, and his finishers certainly evoke the zanier nature of the series’ output in the 1990s.

With Kombat Pack 2 out in the wild, the game’s fanbase will likely start to speculate about whether another haul of DLC will make its way to the game. NetherRealm Studios has said very little either way, but it really depends how long the developer plans to support this instalment in the series.

Given that longtime genre rival Street Fighter is now moving towards a service-based business model, we could well see Mortal Kombat X given similar support until the end of this console generation. On the other hand, the team at NetherRealm might be eager to move on to other pastures.

Mortal Kombat XL is available now for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The new characters and costume included in this release are available separately as Kombat Pack 2.
