If there’s any specific type of warrior from the vastness of known human history that best represents the Mortal Kombat franchise it’s the ninja. Throughout the series, the iconic Subzero and Scorpion have always been the poster boys for the fighting game property, but they’ve been accompanied by many other ninjas all decked out in different colors. While many of those characters didn’t make the roster in the latest installment, Mortal Kombat X, the fan-favorite ninja Tremor will.
After failing to join the main cast of characters in any of the main iterations of the franchise, the earth-manipulating warrior will finally be making his playable appearance alongside a number of longstanding veterans. While fans haven’t had too much to go on in terms of gameplay for the fighter, NetherRealm Studios has finally given gamers the opportunity to see just what Tremor is capable of in Mortal Kombat X.
After teasing the arrival of more information on the anticipated fighter, franchise co-creator Ed Boon made good on his promise. The newest kombatant joining the fray looks to be one of the most devastating yet, and his rock-based maneuvers are easily some of the most violent featured in the game. Given the fact that Tremor is the disciple of the villainous Kano, it’s no wonder that the new character (also known as Black Dragon’s ninja) is so incredibly destructive and brutal.
Alongside the arrival of Tremor will be brand new costumes for existing members of the Mortal Kombat X roster. Releasing under the inventive moniker of ‘Klassic Skins Pack 2’, the new DLC will bring old-school skins for Mileena, Kitana, Kung Lao, and Jax into the mix – something longstanding fans are sure to appreciate.
All of this downloadable content will be made available for Kombat Pass holders on Tuesday, July 21, 2015. Those that are currently without the season pass, but are interested in picking up Tremor, will be able to purchase all of the aforementioned content a week later on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 for $7.99 USD. Those looking to avoid the skins, however, can simply add Tremor to their game for $4.99 USD, while those who’d rather just have the fan service costumes can plop down $3.99 USD for them.
All in all, Tremor’s Fatalities look to be just as intense as previous information has lead gamers to believe, and he’ll undoubtedly make a fine addition to Mortal Kombat X‘s current playable lineup of killers. What’s interesting to note about the gameplay trailer for the fighter though, is that it cuts out to the all-too-familiar “who’s next?” text. Could this mean that Tremor won’t be the last fighter added to the game, as was previously hinted at by Ed Boon? We certainly hope so.
