Mortal Kombat X has been a huge success for NetherRealm Studios, and that success has continued since the game's release thanks to a steady stream of DLC keeping the community engaged. The most exciting DLC for Mortal Kombat X has consisted of new characters added to the roster, which has included veteran Mortal Kombat fighters as well as guest characters pulled from movies.

While it's nice to have another chance to destroy people as Tremor again, the more interesting new fighters are definitely the special guest characters. As it turns out, one especially exciting guest character that would've fit right in with the ultra violent Mortal Kombat X universe was actually discussed to be added as DLC to the game, but it ultimately didn't pan out.

As revealed on Twitter by series co-creator and current creative director at NetherRealm Studios, Ed Boon, there were talks to include The Terminator as a guest DLC character in Mortal Kombat X. The Terminator would definitely have been right at home with the likes of other 80's film icons such as Jason Voorhees and Predator. It would've been especially interesting to see a Terminator version of Arnold Schwarzenegger battle it out with the Predator, considering Arnold played the lead role in the Predator movie as well.

It's a bit of a bummer that we didn't get The Terminator as a DLC character for Mortal Kombat X, but there's still some hope for the time-traveling murder machine to be added to the game in the future. Even though NetherRealm has satisfied the contents of the first season pass for Mortal Kombat X, it seems that they are planning a Kombat Pack 2, which would presumably include four new DLC characters. We're still waiting on official word regarding Kombat Pack 2, but it will probably be revealed within the next few months.

In the meantime, those that are just dying to play as The Terminator in a video game will have a chance to do so later this year. The Terminator is a DLC pre-order bonus for the upcoming WWE 2K16, as a continued element of the joint promotional efforts between WWE and Paramount Pictures. That being said, Terminator as he will appear in WWE 2K16 won't be able to be his brutally violent self, so it's not quite as satisfying as it would be to see him pop up in Mortal Kombat X down the road.

Would you play as Terminator in Mortal Kombat X? What other guest characters would you like to see added to the game in the future?

Mortal Kombat X is currently available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. A last-gen version of the game for PS3 and Xbox 360 is also planned, and there's a mobile version of the game for iOS and Android devices as well.
