It’s been a little bit since Mortal Kombat X players have had some new content to sink their teeth in to, following the release of Tanya on June 2, 2015. The returning female Kombatant made for a welcomed addition to the latest installment of the gore-filled fighting series, but now it’s almost time for one of the more highly sought after guest characters to join the ever-violent fray.
Predator (the deadly alien from the film series of the same name) is the second cameo scrapper arriving following the debut of horror movie icon Jason Vorhees, and gamers have been given a solid look at the newfound fighter in a newly released teaser image. Luckily for fans of the Predator films, the Carl Weathers attire for the hard-hitting Jax is also present in the Mortal Kombat X screenshot.
The screenshot in question was posted by none other than Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon on Twitter, where the legendary game developer teased the ability for fans to recreate the events of the first alien-centric movie. Of course, they could take that particular encounter in an entirely different direction if they feel so inclined as well, but that’s the beauty of video games.
This doesn’t mark the first time that fans have been given an in-game look at Predator, as a brief teaser video for the character in Mortal Kombat X‘s training room has previously been released. That said, it’s a nice peek at the content that awaits gamers in July, and there’s no doubt that it will become a big success for both Warner Bros. Interactive and NetherRealm Studios alike.
It should also be noted that it’s good to see the developers paying homage to other characters from the film franchise, with the alternate skin for Jax being a solid option for gamers looking for a little something extra alongside their initial dose of Predator. The additional costumes that accompany the Kombatant are also worth checking out, as they bring something different to a game that’s already known for having a very unique means of keeping fans engaged – largely over-the-top violence.
