One of the Spring’s most anticipated titles, Mortal Kombat X has done a great job of withholding information and slowly revealing details to fans over time. With these past few weeks however, leaks are suddenly happening more and more frequently as the game enters the home stretch of development.
Fans of the long running fighting franchise are eager to find out which characters made the cut for the game’s final roster. A recent story mode trailer served to only fan the flames of excitement among the player base, revealing a host of previously unannounced characters and fueling further speculation. After a recent update on Amazon, it appears that a couple of the characters rumored to be on the roster may in fact be true.
Amazon recently updated their Mortal Kombat X listing to include character renders with a small description of each’s back story and history. An eagle-eyed NeoGaf poster noticed that a couple of the characters listed, namely Johnny Cage and Mileena, were not actually outright confirmed by NetherRealm Studios yet. What’s even more interesting is that this information is posted under the “From The Manufacturer” section as well, so it’s quite possible that Warner Bros or NetherRealm sent over these details.
The listing on Amazon also contains a small character bio, which appear to offer a general overview of each character. Granted, it’s hard to say either way as Mortal Kombat is a franchise that is known to resurrect seemingly dead characters for new games or change it’s history to fit the needs of a particular game’s story line.
With all of these rumors recently hitting and even a producer speaking about Johnny Cage during an interview, it’s looking more and more likely that the veteran fighter is going to be included in the roster. Odds also point to Mileena being a playable character due to the story trailer making her out to be a major player in the game’s campaign.
With only a little over a month left before Mortal Kombat X hits store shelves, it’ll be interesting to see what other kind of leaks and information will be popping up regarding the game. At the current rate of these rumors, chances are that we won’t have to wait long.
Who else are you looking to see added before the game releases? Are you happy about Johnny Cage and Mileena being back? Let us know what you think in the comments.
Mortal Kombat X is due out on April 14, 2015 for the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC.
