Jason Voorhees joins Mortal Kombat X

It’s been close to a month since Mortal Kombat X hit store shelves, and by and large NetherRealm Studios’ fighting game appears to be a hit. At least, the very active Mortal Kombat community would have us believing that; there have been some naysayers.

Even so, Mortal Kombat X is still somewhat of a work in progress. NetherRealm Studios is looking at fan feedback and trying to see where to make balance changes, likely in preparation for the Mortal Kombat X eSports League that’s set to kick off very soon. They want to ensure that any presumed “cheap” characters are dutifully nerfed, and any less useful ones get a nice boost.

Amidst all that main Mortal Kombat X main roster tweaking, NetherRealm is also fine-tuning Jason Voorhees, the first DLC character for the game. Jason is set to launch with the Horror Pack in a matter of days, so it’s likely just finishing touches at this point. Presumably Jason’s gameplay is ready to go.

To that point, NetherRealm has finally confirmed when Mortal Kombat X fans will be able to see Jason Voorhees in action. Like with Goro's gameplay, Jason is getting his own dedicated Kombat Kast, which will explore the various ins and outs of the Friday the 13th character’s design.

Unfortunately, all NetherRealm head Ed Boon could say at this point was that the Jason Kombat Kast is coming, not necessarily what gamers can expect. Presumably, we would get to see all three of Jason’s variations – the rumored names are ‘Relentless’, ‘Slasher’, and ‘Unstoppable’ – as well as his Fatalities. Given that Mortal Kombat X already features some truly gruesome Fatalities we can’t wait to see what Jason might bring to the table.

As far as the rumored variations are concerned, the three types sound well within the Jason wheelhouse. Slasher seems like an obvious choice for Jason to brandish his machete, while Unstoppable suggests greater damage resistance, and Relentless could be the combo heavy variation.

Of course, that’s all speculation at this point, as we know very little about Jason outside of his design and a leaked character select screen. That will soon change, so make sure to tune into the Kombat Kast or visit Game Rant on Monday for all the new Jason DLC details

What do you hope to see during the Jason gameplay reveal? Will you buy the Horror Pack?
