The concept of two-versus-two is quickly becoming a common feature for fighting games, with many of the top-tier fighting series adopting the gameplay style. And while the newest Mortal Kombat wasn't the first in the franchise to use the mode, it is the first one in the series to do it right.
If you hadn't had enough with the first Mortal Kombat tag team trailer released a few days ago, then maybe your bloodlust will be satisfied with this new, all-ladies tag team battle.
We have princess of the peaceful realm of Edenia, Kitana, along with longtime friend Jade, taking on her corrupted mother Sindel, and her evil, monstrous twin Mileena. Not much is different from the last trailer, although we do get to see Jade's X-Ray move. One can only imagine the immense pain one would feel from a staff to the back, but to the crotch as well? Sadly, whereas with the last trailer didn't showcase a Fatality, in this one we don't even get a finish. Hardly seems fair. Oh well, leaves more surprises for the game's release.
See the girl-on-girl-on-girl-on-girl action in the trailer below.
While we get plenty of gameplay to tide us over for a little while longer, there's still a few things we don't really know about the tag-team aspect of this game. We're still in the dark on co-op arcade, or co-op tag team battles in general. We still don't really know how the tag-team mode will affect the online play, if it will at all. For that matter, we have little to no information about online in general, other than the fact that it will be there. What other modes will be playable online? Will we be able to show off our conquests in the Challenge Tower to our friends? Will we be able to help out one another in that mode?
Knowing Mortal Kombat's history of keeping secrets, we may not find out until the game's release. Leave your thoughts or desires in regards to this game in the comments below.
Mortal Kombat is set to release April 19, 2011 for the Xbox 360 and PS3.
