The highly anticipated Mortal Kombat movie is set to release on March 5th 2021 and many of the details have been kept very secret so far. Apart from the occasional casting decision, fans of the hit 90s video game Mortal Kombat are dying to see what the movie has in store.

The series recently announced that Elissa Cadwell would be playing the vampire fighter Nitara, but it's the cast training in Sydney that fans are paying close attention to. Actor Ludi Lin who was cast as Liu Kang was seen practicing his sick high kicks to the soundtrack of the original Mortal Kombat movie.

It's clear that Lin has not only got the looks but the moves as well. It will be interesting to see if Lin's moves amount into the famous Liu Kang Bicycle Kick, and how they'll pull that off. Greg Russo, the writer of the rebooted franchise, has hinted at several big moves in the feature which has a lot to do with casting, but possibly more to do with filming.

Luckily, Liu Kang is not the only character giving a sneak peek into their training regimen. Jessica McNamee, cast as Sonya Blade, was seen on her Instagram training for a complicated series of moves with her Kali Sticks. This is clearly a first in a series of training moves that McNamee will have to endure.

Mortal Kombat hasn't had a theatrical movie since 1995, and fortunately much has changed and advanced in the film industry. The main questions will be, how brutal will the fighting be in this movie and will there be practical or computer graphic imaging effects. With the recent launch of Mortal Kombat 11 back in April, and the frequent updates with amazing Fatalities, it's hard to assume that this movie would be anything less than rated R.

Nino Pilla can be seen in most of the training videos, an Australian master martial artist who is known for his stunts in movies and television. Pilla is evidently putting the cast through their paces and making sure each one is able to accomplish their signature moves. Several other characters have been confirmed by Russo, including Josh Lawson as Kano and Mehcad Brooks as Jax who is rumored to have a larger part in the movie.

Mortal Kombat will premiere in theaters on March 5, 2021.
