Thus far, very little has been revealed concerning New Line's forthcoming Mortal Kombat movie that is set to release March 5, 2021. It's uncertain what timeline the movie is set in, whether it will be considered canonical, or who all will appear. Now, the James Wan and Todd Garner adaptation has revealed four actors who will be playing Jackson 'Jax' Briggs, Liu Kang, Mileena, and even the God of Thunder, Raiden.

Playing Jax is Supergirl actor Mehcad Brooks, playing Liu Kang is Power Rangers actor Ludi Lin, Australian newcomer Sisi Stringer is playing Mileena, and Thor: Ragnarok actor Tadanobu Asano is reportedly taking on the role of Raiden. While most of these actors appear to be set for the Mortal Kombat movie, it's worth highlighting that Asano is supposedly still in negotiations concerning his role as Raiden.

The Mortal Kombat movie looks like it is working on a strong cast, but it has a few other hands behind the scene. The aforementioned Wan and Garner are big names, as Wan created the original Saw and even made the puppet for the movies, and Garner is known for his work on Radio, The One, and xXx: State of the Union. It will also be the feature debut for Simon McQuoid, a veteran commercial director, and Greg Russo penned the Mortal Kombat screenplay.

Prior to the latest actor reveal, it was confirmed that Joe Taslim would be playing Sub-Zero in the upcoming Mortal Kombat movie, and he is perhaps most known for his roles in The Raid, Fast & Furious 6, and Star Trek Beyond. Filming is set to begin in Australia in September, so hopefully, we will see these actors in character sooner rather than later.

One more major detail is that the movie will "earn its R rating," hopefully living up to fans' expectations, and will do so by including Mortal Kombat fatalities. Whose fatality exactly remains to be seen, but any character on this list would certainly do.
