While most character's weaponry is mundane others hold unique weapons synonymous with the fighter that wields them.

A Split Image Of Kotal Kahn & The Macuahuitl

The savage weapon of Kotal Kahn, the Macuahuitl is a powerful weapon capable of tearing through any foe. This massive blade is a real weapon that was used by the Ancient Aztecs to rip and shred flesh with ease. It is made using a wooden club embedded with obsidian blades that are sharper than razors. While it lacks the finesse of modern weaponry it does wonders in the hands of the Osh-Tekk warrior Kotal Kahn.

In Mortal Kombat X, we see the newly instated Kotal Kahn use his massive Macuahuitl against the most formidable kombatants. Despite its large size and primal blade Kotal Kahn uses the Macuahuitl with relative ease. He can cut through opponents like butter without any strain upon himself. This brutal weapon is a perfect fit for the equally savage Kotal Kahn and special addition to Mortal Kombat's unique weaponry.

A Split Image Of Kabal & The Hook Sword

The versatile weapon of Kabal, the hook sword is a flexible weapon that can perform various feats in battle. Despite its strange appearance, this is a real weapon that is used in numerous Chinese martial arts. Each part of the weapon has a specific function that offers the wielder many moves in battle. For example, the hook can disarm, stab, or even trip opponents to gain an advantage. While in the hands of the speedster Kabal these adaptable blades become significantly more deadly.

In Mortal Kombat 3, the abnormally quick Kabal uses the blades to quickly stab and grab any opponent he faces. Taking advantage of his speed Kabal uses the hook swords in his own frightening interpretation of Chinese martial arts. While hook swords are deadly alone with Kabals extreme speed he can use them to unleash a flurry of attacks or drag opponents at unnatural velocities. The hook swords are a unique fit for Kabal and a notable weapon in the franchise.

9 Pulse Blade

Mortal Kombat Armageddon Cyrax & Sektor Fighting

Pulse Blades are some of the most technologically advanced weapons of the Mortal Kombat franchise. This weapon is a high-tech cyborg sword with a powerful laser blade. 8 Tessen

A Split Image Of Kitana & The Tessen

The seemingly harmless weapon of Kitana, the Tessen is a highly offensive and defensive weapon capable of warding off any attacker. When unarmed Japanese samurai would use Tessen to deflect arrows or as weapons. While the Tessen seen in Mortal Kombat are similar, real Japanese Tessen were made almost entirely out of metal and meant mostly for protection. However, the game's inaccuracies make it a much more lethal and exciting weapon for Kitana to wield.

In Mortal Kombat 2, Princess Kitana - and Jade - use the fans to perform a variety of deadly attacks. She can throw them, summon gusts of wind, and unleash numerous attacks in succession. Kitana's fans become much deadlier with knives between each rib in future installments. This fatal addition combined with Kitana's fighting ability makes her a lethal force in battle. The Tessen alone is a unique weapon but the creator's more dangerous adaptation is welcome to the game's weaponry.

7 Sheng Biao

The legendary weapon of Scorpion, the Sheng Biao - or simply rope dart - is a simple yet effective weapon. The Sheng Biao is a real weapon that is used in Chinese martial arts. It requires careful hand-eye coordination and extensive practice to use effectively but the work required is worth it. Masters of the Sheng Biao can use it in a variety of ways from piercing to binding opponents as we see in Mortal Kombat. While the Sheng Biao is powerful, it becomes much more devastating in the hands of a vengeful wraith.

However, in future installments, Scorpion began integrating the kunai into more moves and ignite it with hellfire for some attacks. The hellish abilities of Scorpion make the Sheng Biao an even more flexible and deadly weapon. The Sheng Biao is an interesting weapon, and it has become an iconic symbol of the franchise itself.

6 Wind Blade

Mortal Kombat 4 Sonya Blade Fighting Quan Chi

The Wind Blade is an especially odd weapon that was wielded by Sonya Blade. This weapon does not have any real-world weapon counterpart, but it seems to be based on the fun and harmless toy pinwheel. This comical weapon has four rotatable blades fixed on a handle that spins and cuts opponents. While it is a comedic weapon, it is deadly in the hands of the special forces agent Sonya Blade.

In Mortal Kombat 4, Sonya Blade uses the Wind Blade to unleash a flurry of attacks on kombatants. The Wind Blade constantly spins to cut opponents multiple times with each hit. This made it a devastating addition to Sonya's weaponry that could end fights with relative ease. Unfortunately - or fortunately - the Wind Blade has not appeared in Sonya Blade's armory since Mortal Kombat Gold. The idea of this weapon is outrageous, but it makes a unique addition to Mortal Kombat's assortment of weapons.

5 Razor-Rang

Mortal Kombat 11 Jade With Her Razor-Rang

The deadly weapon of Jade, the Razor-Rang is a versatile and efficient weapon for assaulting foes at any range. The Razor-Rang seems to be a much more lethal take on the boomerang that originates from the realm of Edenia. 4 Sun-Moon Blades

A Split Image Of Hsu Hao & The Sun-Moon Blades

The flexible weapon of Hsu Hao, the Sun-Moon Blades is an exotic weapon capable of a multitude of functions. This peculiar item is a real and rare weapon that is used in Chinese martial arts. The Sun-Moon Blade is a combination of a variety of weapons, and it serves to perform each of their purposes. Its double blades allow for quick cuts, the middle gap is for trapping, and the front prongs work to ward off attacks. These special blades are wielded proficiently in the hands of the Red Dragon's Hsu Hao.

In Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, Hsu Hao wields the Sun-Moon Blades with deadly force.  Despite the weapon's multifunctionality, Hsu Hao seems to only slash foes with the double-bladed ends. It is only due to Hsu Hao's cybernetic buffs that he can wield such a complex weapon without any real skill. Regardless of how it is used the Sun-Moon Blade is a unique and formidable weapon that can perform a variety of feats.

3 Katar

A Split Image Of Rain & The Katar

The dangerous blade of Rain, the Katar is a push dagger with a deadly feature. The Katar is a real weapon that originated from India as a devastating acrobatic tool. As seen in Mortal Kombat 11, Rain wields a Katar with an expanding scissor blade that creates grievous wounds. The Katar is a quick and precise weapon that allows free movement and lethal attacks. In the hands of the demigod, Prince Rain the Katar blade's brutal capabilities are enhanced.

He also uses the blade's broad base to protect against powerful blows. The deadly efficiency of the Katar, and Rain's considerable power make him an extremely dangerous opponent. The lethal mechanic of the Katar makes it a deadly and unique addition to Mortal Kombat's expanding armory of weapons.

2 Razor-Brimmed Hat

A Split Image Of Kung Lao & Odd Job

The signature weapon of Kung Lao, the Razor-Brimmed hat is a fashionable yet deadly weapon. This strange tool is not derived from any real weapon but was instead inspired by a scene in the James Bond film Goldfinger. In the movie, Oddjob would use his hat as a ranged weapon that was surprisingly effective. The creators took that idea and shaped it into a much deadlier hat-wielding monk known as Kung Lao.

In Mortal Kombat 2, Kung Lao uses his hat as an efficient multirange weapon. Since then Kung Lao has implemented new and more brutal moves using his hat. Kung Lao can now control the hat's movement utilizing it for defense or as a lethal saw blade. The versatility of Kung Lao's hat makes it one of the deadliest and most unique weapons of the series.

1 Saber Teeth

Mortal Kombat: Armageddon Kintaro Fighting Scorpion

The savage weapon of Kintaro, the Saber Teeth are a variation from the Shokan Dragon Fang gauntlets. Unlike the refined Dragon Fangs, the Saber Teeth bears a long sharp tooth - or claw - from a massive beast. The name Saber Teeth could indicate that the bone is from a saber tooth tiger or it refers to Kintaro's tiger-like appearance.

In Mortal Kombat: Armaggedon, Kintaro uses the Saber Teeth to unleash a flurry of slashes upon opponents. Similar to the Dragon Fangs Kintaro wields four gauntlets to attack opponents multiple times. With the gauntlets, Kintaro attacks with great speed and precision that when hit in rapid succession can end battles quickly. The savage bladed gauntlets are just as brutal and unique as the Tigrar Shokan that wields them.
