Mortal Kombat 11 has had a plethora of guest fighters join in the carnage. In Mortal Kombat 11, NetherRealm Studios and WB Games have added the likes of RoboCop, Rambo, The Terminator T800, The Joker, and Spawn, and as one would expect, they fit in nicely for the savage mechanics. However, sometimes the guest fighters that don't make it in are more interesting. Fans are left asking what could have been. Recently, Ed Boon shocked fans with a character that had come up in talks before but didn't make the cut.

Mortal Kombat co-creator and current Creative Director Ed Boon revealed on Twitter that Buffy the Vampire Slayer has been thrown around as a possible Mortal Kombat DLC character over the years. Whether or not the character was in contention for a Mortal Kombat 11 DLC character slot is unclear, but Boon notes that her name has clearly come up a few times.

"Trust me, her name has come up many times (over the years) in our conversations about possible guests in Mortal Kombat," said Ed Boon in a quote-tweet. The original tweet where this all started was Ed Boon saying "These days people put lol at the end of their sentences far too often lol." In which the reply from Twitter user RishardWoody1 was just a picture of Buffy and her name written in the text (with no "lol"). This prompted Boon to give fans news that may have surprised them.

Unfortunately, this is all the information that Boon divulges. Fans shouldn't expect the character to come to Mortal Kombat 11, as the game is no longer receiving new content. That said, NetherRealm Studios will eventually be working on Mortal Kombat 12. There could be a day that players may see, Buffy Summers and Shaggy in this gore fighter however unlikely that may seem.

Although fans may have to wait for this fantasy since Mortal Kombat 11 finished with its DLC earlier this year, so it's more likely that NetherRealm will be working on Injustice 3 as its next project. Ed Boon is also set to appear at the DC FanDome on October 16th. The mere suggestion by Boon will no doubt fuel further fan requests for Buffy to be included later down the line. The character would make a great fit and more female representation in the game which isn't a bad thing. Going off the show alone, Buffy has enough attacks and moves that she is more than deserving to join the roster.

Mortal Kombat 11 is out now for PC, PS4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S
