The characters that will make up Kombat Pack 2 for Mortal Kombat X leak ahead of their planned Game Awards reveal, with Leatherface and a Xenomorph joining the roster.

Those tuning into The Game Awards 2015 tonight are in store for a number of reveals and world premieres, but it looks like one of the surprises slated for the annual awards show has been leaked. Thanks to a leaked trailer, we now know the four characters that will be coming to Mortal Kombat X next year.

Kombat Pack 2 for Mortal Kombat X will feature two guest characters as well as two "familiar" fighters from Mortal Kombat's past, with its guest characters echoing the guest fighters from the first Kombat Pack. Whereas the original Kombat Pack featured Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th as well as Predator, Kombat Pack 2 is bringing to the table Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and a Xenomorph from Alien. This allows fans to crossover characters from some of the biggest horror and sci-fi franchises in film history, which should be an exciting prospect to MKX players.

Mortal Kombat veterans will also be happy to see Bo' Rai Cho make his return to the franchise, drunken fighting methods intact. In the meantime, the second returning fighter is actually a combination of three different cyborg characters from Mortal Kombat's past, with elements of Cyrax, Sektor, and Smoke combined to create the new character named Tri-Borg.

While it's a bummer for NetherRealm Studios and The Game Awards that the contents of Kombat Pack 2 have leaked ahead of time, this will no doubt create significant buzz for the game. Mortal Kombat X is the fastest-selling game in the franchise to date, and while its sales may have tapered off in recent months, Kombat Pack 2 could go a long way in rejuvenating interest in the title.

Kombat Pack 2 is also fairly significant for pop culture in general, as it will mark the first appearance by Leatherface in a video game since 1982's Texas Chainsaw Massacre game for the Atari 2600. All things considered, the chance to play as both Jason Voorhees and Leatherface may prove too great an opportunity for horror fans to pass up.

What do you think about the characters coming to Mortal Kombat X in Kombat Pack 2? Are you excited to see the Xenomorph, Latherface, Bo' Rai Cho, and Tri-Borg in greater detail later on? Are these characters enough to convince you to return to MKX?

Mortal Kombat X is currently available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Kombat Pack 2 will be available at some point in 2016.
