Although she died in the events of 2011's Mortal Kombat and only appeared as an NPC in Mortal Kombat X, series co-creator Ed Boon recently confirmed that Sindel will be DLC for Mortal Kombat 11. It's worth mentioning that, while Nightwolf has received a lot more attention, Boon has revealed a revenant render of Sindel that gives players a slight glimpse as to what she will look like in the game.

It has been eight years since Sindel appeared as a playable character, so it's possible that even die hard Mortal Kombat fans have forgotten about some details concerning the character. So, in preparation for her eventual release in Mortal Kombat 11, here are 5 totally weird facts about Sindel.

5 1. She Is Incredibly Old

Sindel's origin story is incredibly tragic, as she once served a Queen of the peaceful realm of Edenia. That was, until Shao Kahn invaded her realm and killed her husband Jerrod. This, combined with Kahn's adoption of her daughter, Kitana, and her forced marriage to Shao Kahn, pushed her to kill herself until her resurrection in Mortal Kombat 3.

Now, it's worth mentioning that 10,000 years pass prior to her resurrection, and while this may not necessarily add to Sindel's age, Kitana is only slightly older than 10,000 when her mother is revived. 10,000 in Edenian standards is described as young, meaning that Kitana's mother is far older than many may realize and making Sindel's description as "distinctly older" a bit of an understatement.

4 2. She Was Called "The Bride" During Production

Sindel was first introduced in Mortal Kombat 3, but the crew didn't have a name for her until the final stages. Because of this, programmers referred to her as "Muchacha" and "The Bride," with the latter actually referring to the 1993 Hong Kong film, Bride with White Hair. As an impactful piece of Kung Fu cinema, this film related to Sindel as the titular character transformed from a black-haired bride to a witch with white hair, relating to Sindel's transformation all the way to when she joins MK11's DLC character roster.

3 3. She Has a Star Wars Easter Egg in Mortal Kombat Deception

During the events of Mortal Kombat Deception, Sindel essentially re-enacts one of the most iconic moments of Star Wars. Many will recall when Luke Skywalker first finds Princess Leia in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, where Leia makes the comment, "Aren't you a little short for a stormtrooper?" When Shujinko finds Sindel, she mimics the phrase by saying, "You a bit too old to be in Shao Kahn's military, are you not?"

2 4. She's Technically Dead in Both Timelines

Sindel is one of few characters technically dead in both the original timeline and the current timeline. During the events of the original timeline, she is killed by an unknown combatant during the Battle of Armageddon. In the current timeline and in her render reveal for Mortal Kombat 11, she is an undead revenant. Considering her fate is tied to Nightwolf, many are wondering if Nightwolf is still a revenant by default in the current timeline, since it seems to be the case with Sindel.

1 5. Raiden Says Starfire and Black Canary Remind Him of Sindel

Raiden appears as a guest character in Injustice 2 where he will compare Sindel to the Black Canary and Starfire. During his intro with either character, he will say they remind him of a "queen [he] once knew" and "perhaps [they] too fight like Sindel." It's a solid shoutout which highlights Sindel's unique role in Mortal Kombat lore, and hopefully, we will see more instances like this in the future.

Mortal Kombat 11 is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
