After finishing off its first Kombat Pack with Image Comics' Spawn, NetherRealm Studios has announced the Mortal Kombat 11 Aftermath Expansion will add RoboCop and other DLC characters as well as old mechanics like the "Friendship" feature. Those new characters will have the chance to face off against other DLC inclusions like DC Comics' Joker and old mainstays of the series like Sub-Zero, who one fan dreamed up a very interesting crossover skin for.

BossLogic, an Australian artist named Koda A., well known for making beautiful posters based on various popular culture properties, posted a picture of Sub-Zero as if the man behind the mask were American rapper Vanilla Ice to Twitter Wednesday. It's truly a match made in heaven for those who enjoy ice-related puns, not unlike the kind Arnold Schwarzenegger's Mr. Freeze threw around in Joel Schumacher's 1997 film Batman & Robin.

Vanilla Ice, or Robert Van Winkle outside of his rapper persona, is steeped in this kind of ice-related branding thanks to what is arguably his most popular song, 1989's Ice Ice Baby. It seems he would be a perfect fit for Sub-Zero in that regard, though as one fan comments under BossLogic's post the skin might look better on Frost given she already has similarly spiked-up hair in the Eternal Klash Skin Pack revealed for Aftermath.

BossLogic has done work related to Mortal Kombat 11 before. At the beginning of the year, before Joker was released into the game, he created an image showcasing what it would look like if Geralt of Rivia was added as a DLC fighter, another thematically appropriate inclusion given The Witcher's protagonist previously appeared in fighting games like Bandai Namco's 2018 Soulcalibur VI.

The artist's talents extend to television and movies as well. Among his catalog of crossover pieces are images related to Star Wars for example, such as a mashup between Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding and The Mandalorian, a Disney+ streaming show which will see its second season released soon.

It's not exactly likely that Vanilla Ice will make an appearance in Mortal Kombat 11, even as a skin for characters like Sub-Zero or Frost. However, BossLogic's artwork at least gives fans something to dream about while waiting for the Aftermath DLC Expansion to launch on May 26, 2020.

Mortal Kombat 11 is out now for PC, PlayStation 4, Stadia, Switch, and Xbox One.
