While many fans likely believed that Mortal Kombat 11 Aftermath was the end of the road for the hit fighting game, NetherRealm Studios continued to tease even more content was on the way. Led by Ed Boon, the studio put out all sorts of clues and other hints that sent the community into a frenzy of speculation. Finally, after weeks of hinting at new characters, NetherRealm Studios reveals a new trailer for Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate and a fresh influx of new content.

Arguably the biggest news for Mortal Kombat 11 fans is that both Rain and Mileena are finally coming back. Mileena has always been in very high demand and likely a character that Ed Boon hears about more than any other for how vocal her fans are. As expected, Mileena comes with her sais and iconic purple outfit. Rain is also back, looking more regal than usual in an outfit that seems to be a cross between his MKX outfit and his more traditional purple ninja look. His weapon of choice appears to be some sort of katar blade.

As it turns out, the recent leaks were correct as the fictional action hero John Rambo is, in fact, being added to the roster. The trailer shows Rambo stepping out of the shadows last, armed to the teeth with ammo and a machine gun. The key art also shows Rambo using a bow, likely implying that players will have at least a few different weapon types to choose from when selecting him. Better yet, Sylvester Stallone is also voicing the character.

Fans can look forward to getting their hands on all three characters on November 11 either as the standalone Kombat Pack 2 or in the new Ultimate edition of the game. For those who opt for the full bundle, it includes the base Mortal Kombat 11 game, the Aftermath expansion as well as the included characters of Robocop, Fujin, and Sheeva, and both Kombat Packs. Pre-orders for the upcoming content also score the Time Warriors Skin Pack.

One question that remains for Mortal Kombat 11 is its next generation plans. Thankfully, the trailer also reveals NetherRealm's plans, which appear to follow suit with most other studios. For current Mortal Kombat 11 owners, they'll be able to upgrade completely for free. The next generation versions of Mortal Kombat 11 come with 4k Resolution, faster loading times, improved visuals, and cross-generation compatibility for certain game modes.

Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate launches on November 17, 2020 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
